Uh, actually, I kind of liked the storm cloud curse. I thought it was effectively realized with a low budget and vividly illustrated the curse as an unstoppable force.

Eep.

[/fluttershy voice]

Classic Who definitely has cheesy special effects, but the Fourth Doctor's era in particular countered this with clever storylines and witty dialogue.

[rarity voice]

While I do agree that it conveyed the curse as unstoppable, I must ask what is wrong with making a curse unseen? I do believe this would make the curse far more terrifying, as the characters could not know when it took effect until their loved ones all degenerated into their darkest selves. Of course, while I believe the curse cloud was unnecessary, I would certainly agree that the effects of the Shattered Sight in particular were well conveyed amongst the main cast.

[/rarity voice]

And lovable characters. One of which is perhaps the most legendary Doctor of them all.

Ooooh... I thought you meant the original curse from the first season. The one that sent the fairy tale characters to Storybrooke. I agree that the Spell of Shattered Sight could have been cooler as an invisible menace.

Also, let me just say how very Discord-ish the Spell of Shattered Sight is. If I were the type to come up with wildly improbable crossover theories, I'd almost be inclined to suggest a connection...   :P

And Leela. Leela is one of the best companions of all time.

I have! This is a dream.

I'm thinking Sam. Somehow she seems to be the healthiest option. :P

Am I the only one thinking the characters we choose might be portents for the coming year?

Beginning the year with Backtrack may have invited cowardly men in bad sunglasses, while beginning it with Lightwards may have invited an army of evil scientists intent on banning public displays of affection with the force of prehistoric reptiles. Sam, on the other hand, is an emotionally healthy if very sarcastic individual, which bodes well for the coming year. :P

(Also, I'm wondering: when left on their own tonight, should Nathan try to cheer Sam with a flashback to Lord Snakehands?)

I can only pray for Edgedancer's sake that he has a better character than Nighthound to start the year with. :o

(That would definitely be an awesome thing to happen.)

I considered adding a minor flashback to Backtrack's next scene, just to show how long he's had his sunglasses for. While scrapped for the time being, it would have featured the High Epic "Anvilicious," whose catchphrase is "My fists are like heavy anvils at the ends of my arms. Meaning I'm really strong." :P

Ray or Voidgaze, Ray or Voidgaze? Either one would start the year well. :P

"Also, don't do drugs. Because you WILL hallucinate things. And die. And if you get drunk at a party, you might find yourself ambushed by an army of killer laser wasps…but you won't be able to run, because you'll be too drunk.

(I have the feeling Anvilicious and Moral Guardian would get along quite well.:P

Really what did you think about it? As for me (Careful Voidus)

It was a nicely written episode overall, even if I guessed two of the three dream levels. I´m not sure what I think about apart from that though. Leaving aside the subtil dis at MlP made by Santa (I still blame 12 subconscious for this) there are two things that I´m not sure what to think about.

1) With Santa and all that stuff around I´m not sure if this counts as a return to the more lighthearted elements we talked about just shortly before or if the fact it was only a dream kind of mocks that but I guess when in doubt be in favour. ;)

2) The reintroduction of Clara. It´s not that I don´t like Clara but I really liked the "end" with her as an old woman, it had a tragic note but also was a very touching moment that showed 12 as more than just his usual grouchy self in a way that gave his relationship with her closure. Companions that leave on their own also always earn a good amount of respect from me but now I´m inclined to think that she´ll stick around until Moffat kills her of, which given the usual running time of companions will probably be in the next season.

Yet again the dream scene fake-out, feels cheap. This time squeezing out some more emotions.

Definetly the healthier option. :P  mind if I write a Shiny post then before the next Backtrack?

Shiny Sparkle seems like a good option, maybe I could write some Voidgaze filler as well. Ray is also a safe alternative to Nighthound.

(Was it Sam or Revolution that flirted/teased Nathan back when they were still Twi´s characters?)

Some anvils need to be droped.

Two words: Shona. That's only one word, and it's a name, but that doesn't matter because Shona is awesome and needs to be the companion for the next series.

Go ahead.

I don't think either of them actually flirted with Nathan. They both made fun of him, though.

America's young women must be taught about the dangers of killer laser wasps, and how they can negatively affect their lives. :P

Yeah, I think it could maybe sort of be taken as flirting, but it was more just mocking him because they thought he was an Epic.

Each year, more than three young people die from killer laser wasps. That's more deaths from spontaneous loss of gravity and sentient pencils combined.

I would like her as a companion as well but didn´t the last dream fake-out make her exsistence non-canon?

Alright then.

One of them called him dear/darling... I think it was Revolution, though.

Never trust the laser wasps, oh all the lives they have ruined. :P

That was more condescending than flirtatious (speaking as someone who has had "dear" and "hon" used against her in more than one argument <_<).

We don't know for sure that the tangerine in the last scene was a dream fake-out. Santa Claus could actually be real--stranger things have happened in the Whoniverse.

While of the two of them Revolution would be more likely to flirt with Nathan, I'm pretty sure she was merely using the word to annoy him. :P

Killer laser wasps--the silent killer. And also the noisy killer, and all levels of death-volume in between.

The first Doctor meet Santa, so unless Mofat retconned that as well Santa exsits in the Whoniverse, but that has nothing to do with the fact that the last time we saw Shona it was in a dream level completely fabricated by the aliens, so even if she was real the Doctor didn´t save her, meaning by the time the new series starts her brain would have been eaten.

Right then, so no competition for Funtimes. ;)

They are almost as bad as the deadly bee weapon. Bees my god.

To be honest, I'm not sure how to write Autumn's next post in a way that doesn't tempt me to replace all those words with this gif:

wait-what-gif.gif

But I will try. :P

I find it funny how Shiny Sparkle can at the same time say that she´ll essentially do whatever Autumn tells her to and still come across as willful enough to completely stun her.

An alternative would be to wait until Backtrack starts crying and use that as a distraction. :P

Might I also note that no one introduced themself yet? That could work as a conversation topic.

1. He has powers similar to Quota's, though he's more of a malevolent Rioter than a malevolent Soother. His apathy is just how he normally feels. :P

2. Nope. I didn't have any plans for him. Just...don't be too mean to Ricardo? Oh, who am I kidding. This is Timeport we're talking about. Ricardo, it was nice knowing you.

Yes. He'd inflame emotions like contentment and the joy he felt from his last kill, not knowing that this would probably just make Timeport more excited to kill him. :o His next move would be to try and inflame discontent and indifference.

Meh. Apathy's overrated.

I don't dislike it, mind you. I just think it's overrated.
