Nice! :D

Sob-onto-Remington's-shoulder hurt? :P

Express your disapproval today! :D

I'm going to be disappointed if Lightwards doesn't have a sobbing heart-to-heart talk with Remington at least once in the RP. :P

Oh! I just want to pinch her horsey little cheeks!

So what needs to be conveyed? Lightwards will soon have copies of the photos Travis took, and Altermind can put in his order for a second floating fortress. What else is on the agenda?

Some form of strategy, the basics of project Amber maybe?

That sounds good. Also, what do you think of Altermind giving Lightwards a mobile that has a direct connection to his own, for future, quick contact?

That makes sense to me. It should be useful for future communications.

As long as Funtimes doesn't get a chance to steal the phone and change Altermind's ringtone. That can only turn out badly. :P

Keeping Altermind's ringtone from becoming "I Love My Lips" or "To Hell with the Devil" is entirely Lightwards' responsibility. I am not accountable for any actions she takes while the phone is in her possession. :P

Poor Lightwards. Even Nighthound has more willing followers. :(:P

The Moral Guardian pony is awesome. I can feel the disapproval wafting off of him. :P:D

Which should really give Lightwards a moment to pause and re-eluvate his life choices. Let´s just hope Nighthound doesn´t decide to turn into a cult leader.

It´s kind of chiling, honestly. :P

Is Altermind prepeared for Lightwards calling him in the middle of the night and whining to him about his nightmares and lack of belivers?

Orson Scott Card once talked about endings, how they need to arise naturally from the story. As an example, he mentioned a short story a student in one of his workshops wrote, about a cult leader leading his followers up a mountain. Well, she did fine up until they got to the top of the mountain, but she had no idea how to end it, so she had a dirigible fall from the sky and crush cult and cult leader.

If Nighthound becomes a cult leader, this is the only acceptable ending for that subplot. :P

A very wise lesson indeed, although the whole time I expected "and then Nighthound died" and falling vehicles should do the job just fine. Thing is, up until now Nighthound wasn´t really going around keeping women, so I´m not sure yet how it will evolve after Ray isn´t a singular entety in that regard. It could end with the two, he could find a taste for the cult thing or he could one day find himself bored with Red and go "Hey, Lightwards, you want the crazy cult chick or should I throw her out of the window?"

Winter, I also noticed that Red didn´t mention her blood sense and that smiley in your signature is kind of weird after the creepy and disturbing Red posts.

PPs latest as yet unnamed persona may take an interest in her if he meets her, comparing her cellular generation with the regeneration of a Healing Epic would I imagine be of great interest to him.

Posted (edited)

She has to keep a few secrets to herself (AKA, I forgot)

There is an edit option, should you want to add it, not that you have to. Fair warning: Nighthound won´t be happy, should he figure out she keept it secret.

And then Nighthound had a precious partner.

Edit: nice pony, is it Red this time?

I just finished the first Alcatraz book, and I think I've figured out Brandon's thought process for his various series.

Mistborn: "What would happen if I took every trope the fantasy genre holds dear and deconstructed them to oblivion?"

Warbreaker: "What would happen if I took all of the tropes the fantasy genre takes for granted and turned them upside-down?"

Steelheart: "What would happen if I played the comic book universe tropes so straight it made them terrifying? And if I made all the superhumans irredeemably evil, just for kicks and giggles?"

Alcatraz: "What would happen if I lost my mind on the page?"

And all of those works are things of beauty. :D

Rule of writing number 1: Write that which is awesome. ;) Something Sanderson very much takes to heat. Honestly, appart from the Hildegunst von Mythenmetz books these are probably the only ones where I can stand "author" tracks distracting from the actual action.

After reading the recent state of Sanderson, I´m not sure if it´s currently a good or a bad time to pick up Alcatraz. On the upside, after years of waiting the realease of the final book is finnaly in sight. On the downside, I think they want to re-release new versions of the books with interior art first.

Sounds good. After you post, I'll have Altermind do that in my next post.

Also, I'm claiming these guys to work with Freq in the Dalles. Sound good?

Scorpion: Lightning Epic, can shoot bolts of Electricity from his hands or summon a bolt of lightning from the sky.

Canis: Speed Epic, capable of high speed movement and combat. Can trace people through their blood if he has ever touched it, up to a distance of approximately 100km

Terraform: Geokinesis, can manipulate fine dirt, has trouble with anything too solid. (Faultlines first power)

Awesome. I like them all.

One question though... why is the electricity Epic called "Scorpion"?

'Twas the night before Christmas

And all through Portland

The people were hiding

Too frightened to stand.

For there in a suburb

At the home of Voidgaze

Was the one called Nighthound

With poor little Ray.

He wasn't near dead

Though Ray'd done her best

With barbs through his head

His heart and his chest.

"High Epics! You're awful!

"Why won't you die?"

Ray sank to the floor

And she tried not to cry.

"There, there," said Nighthound

As he sat down beside her

His hand traced her cheek

Like a satanic spider.

"No need for theatrics.

"No need for alarm.

"You're my pet, aren't you?

"You won't come to harm.

"Well," added Nighthound,

"Not after you break.

"Holding me off for forever

"Is your first mistake."

Just as Ray thought

To put a lance through his foot

There was a great clatter

On top of the roof.

"High Epics! We have one!

"Make sure he dies!"

Then came a new voice:

"Let's do this, you guys!"

"Who are you?" said Ray

When a man then appeared

His hair was greying

And he wore no beard.

"Name's Prof," he growled

With a glare at Nighthound,

"Come Ab'ram! Come Cody!

"Let's put him in the ground!"

And a new new faction out to hit the Dalles. They might not have that many high Epics but it looks bad for the town.

How fast is "high speed" exactly?

Actually, Kobold with you saying that Backtrack would only wimper in his post, should someone else make the next post there?

Any of you have plans over christmas?

You'd have to ask Voidus. Those are copied straight from his doc. I think I'll be changing that name, since I didn't get it either. Any name suggestions? I'm thinking Blitz, Zeus, Thor, or something like that. Opinions or other ideas?

Well Freq was already there, but yeah, I guess. These guys are somewhat powerful, but none have PIs.

Hmm. How fast does he need to go to run over water? 50 mph faster than that. :P

I do. Nothing big though. Just visiting with family who lives in the area. :) What about you?

Blitz sounds good.

I was kind of refering to all the random factions taking aim at them all at once.

So almost 200 km/h (I think I´m going to watch the Mythbuster episode on this now to make sure). Unless he comes with the same restriction as Steel feruchemy that´s a pretty ridiculous fighthing speed.

A family evening, next day way to many people visiting and then visiting my father on the last day.

That's an interesting faction. There might not even be anything left when Ironmonger comes a'conquering. Between pandas and Frequency and Quicksilver (who probably would rather it stay standing...he can't pull off his criminal exploits if it's burned to the ground). That's a lot of Epics for one small city.

My in-laws and my parents live in the same city, so we're going to go visit both. Going down tomorrow, staying through Friday night. I should still be able to post, though. I plan on an Arvin/Ranger/everyone else one coming soon.

I think I will name him that.

That's true. Freq just happened to show up right before Panda did. Now it's more urgent for him to take it over.

So ~175 mph sound good? What restriction do you mean? Storing and tapping? But, yes, he'll be a fast fighter. I might make it so that his mind lags behind a but so it's hard for him to fight at top speed.

True. Freq also wants to city to survive. Which means that his band will be fighting off the Pandas as well and then taking on the city officials and Vondra. Well, we needed something besides Portland. :P

I was more talking about the "If you hit something with 175 mph the impact will make at the very least your arm forever unusable" bit of the super speed without invincibility.

It´s an all pandas out battle royal.

Edit: I think you also mixed up km/h and mph. I think it would be more like 120 mph but I didn´t do that much research on the subject.

Oh I see what you mean. Yes, I'll add that restriction. He might enhance his speed when fighting a little bit, just to dodge and get his hits in quicker, but it won't be anything crazy fast that would break his bones.

No, I knew what I meant. I added some speed to the 200 kmh you said. His speed will have a maximum of 175 mph.

I already added the 50 mph to what would be needed.

I could add an Autumn post after work, if that's all Backtrack would do.

No real plans, except for family coming over in the afternoon. I work tomorrow morning, but the plan is to close as early as possible, so I'll hopefully be off by 3.

Yeah, Backtrack's got nothing to say and I think constantly showing his sniveling internal monologue gets old after a while. :P Your move I suppose.

I've got no Christmas plans to speak of.
