Through the Living Potato He/Him Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Quote *looks at @CoderDrag0n8’s signature* “Hmm… that writing looks familiar…” *clicks* “XKCD! ITS XKCD! HAHA YESSSSS!” An 80-kg human contains about 110,000 calories of energy.
Aeoryi she/her Posted May 23 Posted May 23 The sequence 1, 1/2, 1/3, 1/4, …, 1/n, 1/(n+1), … converges to 0. But in the cofinite topology, this sequence converges to all real numbers. And in the K-topology the sequence doesn’t converge at all. So the limit of a sequence depends on the topology you use.

Ink and Embers Any pronouns Posted May 23 Posted May 23 If you pick up an ant in Sweden and place it in another colony, they'll all continue going about their lives. If you do this is the UK, the colony will kill the new ant. Shakespeare had 3 children and 2 of them share names with characters in his Tragedies

Yes, though this specific difference is because of a species of moth found in the UK but not Sweden that impersonates ant larva (?) and steals resources, eventually depleting the colony, so ants in the UK have evolved to detect when something isn't part of their colony and attack it. Ants in Sweden haven't. This was a specific species of ant but I can't for the life of me remember which, which is really annoying me now, so sorry for the not-that-useful fact

Huh interesting Though I'd thought that ants everywhere (except species whose colonies can merge) are hostile to ants of other colonies, regardless of potential parasites? 3 minutes ago, Ink and Embers said: larva Larvae is the plural. 1
IronMistborn Posted Saturday at 08:46 PM Posted Saturday at 08:46 PM (edited) Jimi Hendrix died on the same day as Black Sabbath’s Paranoid album was released. September 18, 1970. Pearl Aday, the daughter of singer Meatloaf (known for songs like “I’d Do Anything For Love” and “Paradise By the Dashboard Light”) is married to Scott Ian, guitarist* of the thrash metal band Anthrax. Brandon Sanderson was college roommates with Jeopardy champion-turned-host Ken Jennings. The first recorded autopsy in human history was performed on Julius Caesar. Yes, that Caesar. Mr. Human Pincushion himself. They were able to figure out which was the actually fatal blow. speaking of Caesar, his last words aren’t known, but historians agree it probably wasn’t the sad and poetic “Et tu, Brute?” like Shakespeare suggested. It was probably something much more vindictive, with one theory being along the lines of “I’ll see you in Hell!” Edited Saturday at 08:49 PM by IronMistborn
