Gerith looked at him apprehensively. “What power did you get?”

As you wish.

A green light filled her vision, and as it cleared, she felt a strange sense of deja vu.

He nodded. “They say she’s a Fay goddess who was exiled from their domain because of the Blight.”

She stared, eyes wide.

A tall man with piercing green eyes, which left a haunting impression if they made contact with hers, walked nearby. "What did you get?" he asked.

Cilix is a guy 😂

An unfamiliar calm settled the tension in his shoulders, letting him exhale to close his eyes. Scenes replayed themselves in his mind’s eye, causing his eye to twitch. And yet, his smile returned.

”Thank you,” he whispered, taking a few steps forward.

Hey! Come back here!

He was pretty fast, but… he should wait for one last thing before the scenario starts.

Along your journey, you will find Fountains. I can concentrate my power more at those locations, and grant you further support.

However, these are also the concentrations of Blight, and are often very dangerous. You will need to visit them if you hope to succeed against the Serpent King’s final trial, but exercise caution.

Semwyn felt a sense of cold, and reached out to sense the lives around him, comforting himself. It was strange how quickly that was becoming habit. He took a breath, then another, then took a step and started walking along the path.

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Quote

Hey everyone! I finally got the opportunity to get out my laptop in da airport, so I'm going to explain how combat works.

First, a summary of the style of combat here. Importantly, I get all the numbers. I'm essentially Taln the gm with the amount of stuf I'll be doing.

You may have noticed that you guys have the capability to take a lot of people, or control them. Some really good crowd control. I'm going to be looking over all your powers before setting the things, but expect a very large amount of littler enemies at once in the early scenarios. And when looking over your powers, I might notice discrepancies in balance, so I may PM you with tweaks.

That said, a lot of enemies is usually kinda annoying to handle, so I won't talk about things like speed except in certain situations (Like, once in battle range, you're in battle range. Movement, yeah, but not an excessive amount of it.)

I'll say something like:

"Shroom A, B, and C and Apple A, B, and C attack your party."

And then turns happen.

All your turns are going to be at one time, to minimize issues, and if someone is AFK, I'll momentarily pull them (and the matching number of enemies) out of combat for the time being. They'll return when they return, and I'll catch em up.

With the turns, it would be:

Hero B does this action

Hero A does this action

Hero E does this action

...

I'll resolve the effects all at once, and then the enemies go all at once.

"Shroom A uses evil shroom magic against Hero B!"

There will be 4 types of enemies:

Small (Most of what you will see here) - Low overall stats

Medium - Medium overall stats

Large - High health and damage, slow. (By slow, I mean like, less actions. Dunno how I'll deal with that.)

Special - Bosses, or just enemies that don't fit into the other categories.

Your actions will be the following:

Attack: Basic attack, low-er damage.

Defend: Deflect damage based on size of boss/type of attack. Use your intuition. If the enemy has an explosion attack, don't try to defend - rather, exit battle range. If you do exit, it will nullify damage for 1 turn, but you must wait two turns before you can take offensive actions.

Thats it! I hope that don't overwhelm you. I'm trying to keep it simple.

I'll post the enemies in a bit, but I gotta get on the plane and look at yalls abilities - decide how many enemies to add.

WAIT WAIT WAIT @Ookla the Hoppy

choose a power rq:

Dominance: Shade's Hand

A hand of dark smoke emerges from the shadows of 2 enemies. It immobilizes them for 2 turns, with 2 turn downtime. This deals minor damage each turn they are ensnared.

Self-Mastery: Apparition

Turn to gas for up to 3 turns. You cannot take or deal damage during this time, and may cancel the effect at any time. 2 turn downtime

Instinct: Strangling Shadows

Choose three enemies. They take moderate damage, and are weakened for a turn as you twist their shadows, strangling them

I choose Strangling Shadows.

I have a question: Would my knife attacks count for damage?

The cloaked figure continued walking. Why does this have to be in the sun? So many people watching. Do they know? They must, or they wouldn't be looking at me? I need to get away! I need to kill them all!

Then he stopped himself as he was drawing out his knives.

No. Not now.

GET READY

COMBAT NUMERO UNO in this scenario. Scenarios end with a level up/one of dem fountains mentioned by Anathema

In my important announcement up there ^^^^, I explain how combat works

Highlight/What you need to know:

Yall get one action per turn (for now)

There are three Actions - Basic Attack (with any target), Basic Defend, Evade

Evade nullifies one turn of damage, but you lose your action after that.

You can also use your ability to the extent it says in the description, but that takes an action slot.

All heroes go at once, then all enemies go. Makes it simple, ya know?

A screech, terrifying and piercing, runs through the Blight. Their group, gathered at a gate, is ambushed by eight enemies!

Small Enemies:

Fungal Abominations A, B, and C

Spoiler

These creatures are pieces of bodies, human or otherwise, held up and animated by the infestation of the Blight.  Smaller creatures, their movements are awkward and unwieldy.

Blighted Nodes A, B, and C

Spoiler

These clusters of mushrooms grew rapidly from the floor, and are now sending tendrils of Blight across the battlefield. They are small, stationary enemies.

Medium Enemies:

Infested Corpses A and B

Spoiler

The corpse is more mushroom than human, emitting a foul odor even in the blight. Its movements are more agile than the smaller creatures it accompanies, and it seems slightly more dangerous.

Spoiler

Here's a list of everyone's powers:

Kansas
Instinct: Flow of Energy
You tap into the energy around you, and may use it to manipulate your surroundings. You gain the ability to drain energy from those around you, healing yourself or others in the process. You are not able to fully drain energy, and you can only drain so much at a time. Can do enough damage to immobilize/incapacitate a minion/small type enemy. You’ll be weakening non-small attacks when you drain their soul.

2 targets is enough to full heal a teammate, given they don’t already have anything that increases their health.
You can use this once every 2 posts. If that feels limiting, just pm.

Up to 4 targets

(2.25 Small enemies per turn)

Spark
Self-Mastery: Shadow of the Dark Fey
Choose up to three enemies. They ignore you completely for the rest of combat, except if you are the only hero not fallen (Unless they are Small enemies - then they continue to ignore). Minor damage to selected enemies each turn.
(Special. 1.75 Small enemies per turn)
Coder
Instinct: Dragon’s Power

Call down a storm, drawing strength from the violent weather. You may call a 2-turn storm with 2 turns of downtime. While the storm is active, you take less damage and deal more damage.

with your storm, you are able to deal minor damage once per round as a reaction to an attack

(2.25 enemies per turn)

KSause
Self-Mastery: Vital Breath

Gain the support of the wild spirits, bolstering your vitality and performance. You have immensely increased maximum health, and your attacks do some extra damage.

(1 enemy per turn)

Mystic
Dominance: Oroboros’ Venom

As an action, you may choose to undo the action of 3 enemies within sight. When you do this, the enemy will attempt to repeat the action the next turn. All implications of the action (damage taken, death, etc.) are reversed. This has a two turn cooldown.

Argenti
Dominance: Demon’s Eye

Envelop yourself in ghostly flame for three turns. While enveloped, choose two enemies within sight. They must do as you command while enveloped, or take moderate damage and begin to burn. Downtime of two turns.

(2 enemies per turn)

Hoppy
Instinct: Strangling Shadows

Choose three enemies. They take moderate damage, and are weakened for a turn as you twist their shadows, strangling them
