Spoiler

Has anyone else noticed how similar the plots of Mistborn and the Red Rising books are. Like both are about a group of people who form a rebellion from the bottom class(reds and Skaa), and send in an inexperienced child that just got powers(Vin got allomany, and Darrow got the increased Gold abilities) into the high society(Vin into court and Darrow to the academy) after a loved family members death fills them with hate(Eo and Reen), where they then meet the love interest(Elend or mustang), whose father ends up being one of the big villains(Nero and Straff Venture). Both of the groups that these people belong to have morally questionable beliefs about the higher class (Kelsier is giving Kaladin about all light eyes being bad vibes). Then once they take over the empire and kill the current ruler (Lord ruler and Octavia au Lune), they experience the difficulties of controlling a new empire and democracy, as seen as Elend is overthrown by his own government, which almost causes the entire kingdoms collapse, and Darrow is declared a criminal when trying to save the people from the ash lord. Then there's iron gold and spooks story. both groups go to a society completely detached from both sides of the war (the rim and Urteau) and ends up falling in love with the ruler's family (Beldre and Seraphina), before the place gets taken over by another force (Spook and The Kings wife). I feel these were both amazing series and just kept reminding me of each other.

You should spoiler tag this.

But yes.

Lightbringer (not the series, Red Rising 6)

Spoiler

Iron gold feels a lot like WoA to me, because of how their own democracy works against them.

Lightbringer feels like the end where Ruin's released, because of the Abomination taking over Luna and stuff. I'm hoping Red God will be like HoA

They do have very similar plotting! I even think that the latter Red Rising books (starting with when they go to Jupiter, it's been too long for me to remember the specifics) have a similar feeling to era 2 Mistborn: the overarching plot still exists but gets kind of back-burnered while we go through a new conflict arc which kind of reprises the shape of the original conflict.

Red Rising may be inspired by Mistborn and Hunger Games. (Moreso the latter, to me)

Indeed haven’t read red rising should I?

Depends on your personal preferences. The summary and data are in the Recommended Reading List - Sci Fan Section. I enjoyed Book 1, not so much books 2 and 3 when they were first released. Never picked up the sequel trilogy. If you like Sci Fan worldbuilding, and a higher violence content than Sanderson usually writes, it may be an option.

I also see some parallels with other series, but it's in the sequel trilogy

Spoiler

Dune, with the Mind's Eye that the Lunes have

Lightbringer Series, with Lysander the Lightbringer. Although it isn't a prophecy, they see Lysander as the successor to his ancestor Silenius au Lune, who was also called Lightbringer and is seen as a Lucidonius equivalent.
