Sythrin Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Just my general thought? Not sure if the mistwraith would be feasable because the possession needs to be consented and the gemheart needs to be part connected to their spiritual web probably. A Kandra could be maybe possible, as they could consent (would mean their death of course.) and it kinda is implied that their truebodies are part of them because of their perception. But on the other hand, investiture resists, so who knows. A soulcasting fused would be interesting the most, as they can soulcast their bodies into different materials. Like making their breath toxic gas or evaporate blades that penetrated them. A kandra body could allow for more sophisticated soulcasting as they could form their bodies into shape before transforming them.
DracoAdamantus he/him Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 I don't see this working in either scenario. For a Mistwraith, I'm assuming that they have a gemheart as a result of digesting a Singer or other Rosharan fauna. In which case, the parts of digested bodies that Mistwraiths hold on to are temporary, new parts integrated and old ones shed all the time. I think of it more like the waste from digested food. For a Kandra, from what we've seen I don't think a crystal truebody would be perceived as a part of a Kandra's body by most members of the species. It's more of a fashion accessory to them, like jewelry or piercings, and they can be swapped out with ease. In either case, the gemstone isn't an integrated part of the creature's anatomy or spiritual identity like in Rosharan creatures, it would just be something temporary. 1
Jult Posted October 15, 2025 Posted October 15, 2025 Well, True Bodies apparently can be used as gemhearts. WoB: Spoiler Quote Ok-Row1050 If a kandra with a crystal True Body made their way to Roshar, could they use their crystal bones like a gemheart? Brandon Sanderson Yes, they could. That is an excellent question. YouTube Spoiler Stream 4 (June 16, 2022) So, yeah. Maybe. Assuming the Kandra truly perceives the True Body as a part of them. I don't see why they couldn't open their gemheart to a Fused. HOWEVER, if that doesn't work there is maybe another option (and I'm sure you had the same thought as a fellow Stonewalkers player). We have seen [Cosmere RPG - Stonewalkers Spoilers]: Spoiler The creation of Shadowform Zealots. Which involves Gemhearts being used as Hemalurgical spikes by humans who were obviously not their original owners AND the possession of those humans by a (mostly) Cognitive entity. So, there may be a roundabout way of making this happen by somehow trapping a Fused in a gem (maybe with a Raysium dagger?). And then using that gem as a Hemalurgical spike. 1
