Why didn't ruin just instakill preservation?

Im not sure if Sel is inhabited by a shard yet… if it is, I need to rechoose

And so begins the Third Age of Ambition, as detailed within these pages, named simply the Records:

Listen thou carefully to the words inscribed upon these plates. Upon my Ascension, I saw immediately the great Task which had been ordained upon me.

But lo, I also saw another fate, a fate great and terrible. And with my knowledge of this fate, I trembled. Mistake yourself not in believing that these fates were equal. For behold, when I speak of two fates, do not believe of yourself that these fates were singular. I saw but a single fate in which my wonderful purpose came to pass - but behold, I saw endless fates in which I let down my Ambitions, and died.

And so, I stepped away from the world. I chose for myself a solitary world I perceived to be the Selish system, forging a planet of my own making in the shape of my Mother-planet, Yolen.

Upon these plates, I abandon my last thoughts of mortality, and took upon myself the title of Ambition - ruler of the planet Nerakalis, exalted above all.

So we have Psuedo-Yolen and New Yolen.

This will be so fun.

Alaswha. Quite like certain parts of Yolen, in some ways. Humanity’s presence, for one, formulated in the familiar forms of cities and nations. Fainlife, however, was completely absent. A whole world, fully trune, lacking many of the creatures and magics of the homeworld. In exchange, it had some of its own.

Investiture flowed through the air in patterns irreplicable anywhere else, pulled as they were by islands and mountains of floating rock which rejected the downward force of gravity in favor of their own suspension.

Despite its influence upon the environment, the inhabitants of Alaswha had little ability to manipulate Investiture themselves. Thus far their access to the abilities of a god had been restricted.

That was a possible opening, to be held in consideration for later.

As a distraction began to grow. The beginnings of an intrusion. Mascarose focused his attention upon it. A Spiritual impression under the guise of familiarity, his own mortal face.

“Why are you here?”

Spoiler

Small assumptions on the nature of Alaswha. I think to say that the planet’s noted odd phenomena are subtly Invested is fair, is it not?

Endowment blocks her. It's pretty easy to oppose her, since she isn't invested, and Endowment is.

We give the gift of life to this planet of the dead

She smiles as her wings cloak the planet from Ruin's halfhearted attempts at destruction.

It does. Gives the invested shard far greater control over the system. And one attack will not break the planet, not when there's another shard shielding it.

You can Invest Threnody too, just it'll mean you cannot leave.

I could leave even if I invested It, but I just want to destroy it.

Shards can counter balance it regardless, preservation is just better at it. They're all equal as far as raw power. Endowment is not ill-suited to protection.

Spoiler

I think’d be cool if you each lay out the points for why a certain action should or should not take place (in their own posts), such that game coordinator man can give a clear and impartial ruling. (Back and forths are bad.)

That's fine. I don't think a shard can just go to the world of another shard and destroy it, regardless of intent.

Umm... Threnody is not completely destroyed. You may do minor damage, however. Worldwide earthquakes, maybe? 'cept it'd be threnodyquakes.

Good enough!

Minor planetary damage works for me!

Iairandeshi left, looking for another shard, one more... agreeable
