Come to think of it, how exactly is Taldain tidally locked? For it to still have mild temperatures it would have to be very far from the super giant. The white dwarf isn't bombarding it either. How is Taldain tidally locked?

Magic.

So I go to the K-Type star, right?

whats a K-Type?

Imagine like a slightly sadder version of our star

...

Okay sure.

Yeah it's between yellow suns and red dwarfs

Also your plants will turn blue

Could I get a star system? I don’t especially care what it looks like (in fact, the weirder it is the better), though it would have to be a fairly bright star to be visible with the naked eye from so far away.

Do not come to Taldain!

give him a neutron star

Layke went really really far away - he wants nothing to do with the only other significantly unpredictable things in the universe.
That would be funny, actually. I may or may not spin it until it turns into a magnetar and then throw it at you.

This star has 0.72 Suns in mass. I'll give you habitable zone later.

How? It'll be a red giant in like 10 billion years at least.

I'm generating a random number. You have a 72% chance of getting a red dwarf because red dwarves are super common.

You got an M-type with 0.36 suns in mass. I still don't know how I'm going to work out planets.

If you want I can generate another system.

The chance of a nuetron star is... really, really low.

I don't think it's the same as the real world. The Cosmere was created, after all.  There's also only like 50-120 stars in the cosmere, and we know there's like 34+ habitable planets, so.. I bet the amount would be different.  And despite the blue giant being extremely rare IRL, there's just one sitting around.

I was thinking a selection bias towards actually visible distant stars would mean something more luminous - a giant is far more visible than a dwarf, and also more interesting for my ideas.

could you reroll my star? like, Cultivation found the K-Type and then decided to try and find another one?

We're also like aware of all the stars in the cosmere. The Shards just know about every one.

My intent was that Layke had selected this star before ascending, having seen it in the night sky of Yolen. But I suppose you had no way to know that, since I only implied it in my post.
I just learned about hypergiants, though I assume I don’t get one.

Yeah probably not. they're even rarer than super giants

Oh wait I misread plants as stars for some reason.

Umm... I'm going to assume that the Cosmere is just in another spiral arm of the Milky Way, so that I can actually calculate things.

Sure.

Another M.

Alright I'm changing it: you get three star systems with only cursory knowledge of each but you only choose one. The other two are deleted and you get detailed info on the one you chose.

First option: Single M-type.

Second: Again, single M.

Three: Single M.

Didn't exactly work out well.

@Dragonheir

I'm going to use the same system.

All 3 are, once again, single Ms. Sigh.

I'll give details in a bit.

@IcedOutPenguin

Option 1: Binary System with a K and an M. Very lucky.

Option 2: Lone M

Option 3: Same as 1.

But that's no fun! Give the poor shards who do not want to settle in the known stars some more interesting things!
Blackhole system!

I'll... need time to think of a new system.

I'll have one eventually. For now, we're sticking with this.

Do you really want to give Invention, whose “what does this button do?” attitude is exceeded only by Whimsy’s, access to a black hole?

Hmm. I guess I can take a red dwarf for the time being - good luck finding a new way to pick these.
Hmm, I wonder if I can stellar engine a couple red dwarf stars into each other for a better star…

Smallest type of star. Anywhere between 0.08 to 0.45 suns in mass. Any less it's a brown dwarf (should I add these?), any more it's a K.
