Hema or just for fun? I mean, I guess, it's possible to have heterochromatic hair and it's usable not a split sideways (I say this as someone with two different hair texture on the sides and crown.) But still the poor thing would have been bullied by other kids relentlessly for thei name alone. @SpiritOfWrathim just assuming you're using combat knives or something? Cause I can't imagine modern military people using swords? Expand I know the Katana best. I know how to use a longsword and a little bit of greatsword. Kendo or Hema? Or just personal interest? 11 minutes ago, IcedOutPenguin said: Odd name, odd hair, both plausible. Names are a large fact of people identy, and despite all of us being perfectly empathetic being that would never judge others unfairly, alot of our fist impressions are based on names. So odd names like Abcde or outdated names like Barbara often end up harming the child's social life and future. While adult may be sensible enough to not insult others names, children are so very cruel and ANYTHING that makes them stick out can result in bullying. I say this as someone who was bullied for being... too blond? 1

Names are indeed a leading part of identity, I've found that different names are generally very helpful because while there might be multiple Thomas's at your school I doubt there will be two Monokonokono's (South pacific) (also a real-world example).

Mh. I suppose, but you can also just use last names. There's like 12 wills in my grade and we just call them by first and last. I mean I'm the only of my name in my grade and they still call me by my first and last.
