Aelorin grinned. “C’m’on. It’s not far now - about a day’s walk. Then… then we can get this over with.”

“This - this constant fighting, the constant… chaos… it’s just… *sigh*.”

Ian was confuzzled.

Why was Ian confuzzled, the universe wondered.

He merely had little context.

He was excited to get back to his family though.

Out in the distance, you see a large crater.

In fact, you notice that the river in the distance (which was not close enough to see before)

Is not flowing.

@Ancient Elantrian

He cautiously approached the crater. Someone had mentioned time stopping; the river must have experienced that.

Ian frowned and went to see the river more.

A small creature scurries past, but stops in its tracks,

GORE WARNING

Spoiler

Its stomach bursting from it and floating in the air. The animal saw the stomach, and squealed even as its reaction were continually slowed. However, its eye popped out as well, floating in air. Neither wound was bleeding.

Its hand seemed to age unnaturally fast, turning to gangrene.

Summary: An animal died in a really gruesome way.

He looked away. Whatever was happening here, it was cruel.

Aelorin saw the animal, face melting. “Oh no…”

He regained his composure, breathing in deeply. “It’s okay.”

Even quieter, “I c— —lan— it.” It was not clear what he said.

The animal didn’t seem to even be dead yet - indeed, it seemed to be frozen in its agony.

"With everything that's been happening, that probably is a terrible idea."

"I can't die, so I could try it." Elan shrugged. "Not much better to do. Sounds fun."
