Did he not deserve happiness? How long had it been?

Too long.

Far... to long.

How long had it been?

Wouldn’t it be nice (if we were older, and we wouldn’t have to wait so long, and wouldn’t it be nice to live together in the kind of world where we belong-) to see them again? And for them to see him?

As the power began to dwell within her, a new worry started growing in her mind. If they became gods… what would happen to the old ones?

What would happen to Mirth?

Her breathing quickened as she began to panic.

The power calmed her, as did Mirth’s cloak.

Mirth could stay, should she will it.

And so, Mirth was with her.

Thank you, daughter.

She nodded a little, though her mind immediately began to race. If she could save Mirth, could she save-

She instantly began willing for Ian and her father. Aggressive willing.

The question rang within him, and then another.

How long would it continue?

How long would he hate?

His sorrow hardens, then turns to anger. He will hate this wretched world for as long as it takes.

He doesn't deserve to be alone. But he must. These mockeries of life aren't his loved ones.

She nodded. “As I’ll ever be.”

She closed her eyes and took a breath. She didn’t really want to be a god- if she died, she could see Dad and Ian again- but… if she had to… at least she could still have Aela, Cye, and Ember with her.

Felicity understood what she meant. But she couldn’t. If she was around forever.. even if that had been a shell of Intellect, how could she see that face, hear that voice, forever?

Her breaths came quicker and her heart raced as she hyperventilated. She couldn’t. She had to and she couldn’t.

Mirth paused, then showed her.

Her mind opened to a scene, a man.

Undying, watching the world pass before him. Inwardly calling himself the Constant, he cursed Aeia for his immortality.

He watched loved ones pass before him, wither, die, as he was helpless to save them.

And then he was visited by divinity. Aeia, in her glory, established him of king of a sovereign nation, expanded his power.

He ran. He ventured to go as far from his new people as possible.

And his unlife continued. He refused to minister to his people, let them wither in confusion.

As time passed, he allowed himself to take students. Teach people under him, bring them the wisdom afforded him by his many years. And they died. All of them.

Another scene, concrete. The man, the Eternal King, weeping over the bodies of his pupils.

And then they wept with him. He looked to his once-students with horror and confusion as they rose, wounds healing and returning to life.

Again, he ran. He returned to his people, ministering to them. And as more and more of them reached his immortality, they told him of certain truths.

They could feel him. Feel his emotions, hear his thoughts.

And so he grew cold. He pushed emotion away, not wishing to betray himself to his subjects. He ruled benevolently, but his heart was a distant thing.

Finally, the Rending. The world was torn asunder, and he was thrown, by some force, into a rift.

He lost consciousness, and when he returned, he had lost his memory.

His name became Intellect.

If I do…

If she did, she’d have to look at the face, hear the voice that refused to let her grieve two of the most important people she had, forever.

But if she didn’t…

She looked at Aela. When she’d lost Intellect, she hadn’t been able to speak. If the roles were reversed… if Aela had had the chance to save Mirth and didn’t… would she ever forgive her? She didn’t want to push her sister away…

… fine. I’ll do it. But for Aela. For you. Not for him.

She let her hands slip out of Aela and Cye’s. Staring at the ground just in front of her feet, she walked towards Jakob. @Argenti

Intellect bowed, and saw the Eternal King. He hugged the frozen figure, clinging to it as he would a lifeline. His face was set as stone, and he kneeled as the figure crumbled away.

His decisions hurt people, he knew. But… he saw. It helped him to see.

Standing, he looked away from the others, fading into a grey figure.

”I see now.”

He nodded to her, and forged a body for himself. It was the frame of the Eternal King, draped in a blue cloth that rippled in an absent breeze.

He nodded to her. “I am sorry. Truly.”

He kneeled.

The power prompted him. It was waiting.

He looked up. “Please, forgive my pain.”

It washed over them, enveloping and replacing their body with a grey mist.

She gasped and ran to her father, wrapping her arms around him and beginning to sob.

Aela watched all this in stunned silence.

She wasn't sure what to think . . . or to do . . .

This was all so much.

And Felicity . . .

She watched her embrace her father, and tears came to her eyes.

Maybe . . . this wouldn't be such a bad thing, after all.

Hot tears ran down Lissy’s face as she shakily began to smile. It was the most at peace she had looked since losing him.

Band camp (hopefully, but I’m pretty confident)

The two held each other tightly, refusing to let anything separate them again. Felicity felt more whole than she had since that gathering in the square. They had each other, and no one could ever separate them again.

HOW DID I NOT SEE THIS

*sorry*

The Still Wind looked around, stepping away before looking worriedly at Jakob.

Why does he hate?

Because he always has.

And. He. Always. Will.

Jakob grab the rebelious power, grabs his sub conscious and thrusts it down, into the Void within himself. He is a god now, despite his best efforts, and he will not be questioned. This power, this life, it sickens him. He wants nothing more than it to all end. Whatever dead god decided to give him the power was not only foolish, but clearly understood nothing of Jakob's nature.

"Get. Out." He whispers, coming from many places at once.

Fear flooded her body at the sound of his voice. She tensed, and the arms of her father solidified around her.

It’s alright, Lissy, we’ll be alright…”
