Felicity understood what she meant. But she couldn’t. If she was around forever.. even if that had been a shell of Intellect, how could she see that face, hear that voice, forever?

Her breaths came quicker and her heart raced as she hyperventilated. She couldn’t. She had to and she couldn’t.

Mirth hugged her.

I can’t- please there has to be another-

Mirth paused, then showed her.

Her mind opened to a scene, a man.

Undying, watching the world pass before him. Inwardly calling himself the Constant, he cursed Aeia for his immortality.

He watched loved ones pass before him, wither, die, as he was helpless to save them.

And then he was visited by divinity. Aeia, in her glory, established him of king of a sovereign nation, expanded his power.

He ran. He ventured to go as far from his new people as possible.

And his unlife continued. He refused to minister to his people, let them wither in confusion.

As time passed, he allowed himself to take students. Teach people under him, bring them the wisdom afforded him by his many years. And they died. All of them.

Another scene, concrete. The man, the Eternal King, weeping over the bodies of his pupils.

And then they wept with him. He looked to his once-students with horror and confusion as they rose, wounds healing and returning to life.

Again, he ran. He returned to his people, ministering to them. And as more and more of them reached his immortality, they told him of certain truths.

They could feel him. Feel his emotions, hear his thoughts.

And so he grew cold. He pushed emotion away, not wishing to betray himself to his subjects. He ruled benevolently, but his heart was a distant thing.

Finally, the Rending. The world was torn asunder, and he was thrown, by some force, into a rift.

He lost consciousness, and when he returned, he had lost his memory.

His name became Intellect.

She calmed a bit and looked down. Th-then… then isn’t letting him die the merciful thing?

He has never truly lived. I wish to give him this chance.

You may use your power, to save him. Give him a life.

It is your choice.

If I do…

If she did, she’d have to look at the face, hear the voice that refused to let her grieve two of the most important people she had, forever.

But if she didn’t…

She looked at Aela. When she’d lost Intellect, she hadn’t been able to speak. If the roles were reversed… if Aela had had the chance to save Mirth and didn’t… would she ever forgive her? She didn’t want to push her sister away…

… fine. I’ll do it. But for Aela. For you. Not for him.

Thank you.

She knew that she needed to take the crown.

She let her hands slip out of Aela and Cye’s. Staring at the ground just in front of her feet, she walked towards Jakob. @Argenti

He frowns.

"As you wish."

She took a deep breath and slowly reached for the crown. @SpiritOfWrath

It melted in her hand, sensing her intent. Dispersing, it challenged all who sought to control it.

@Wierdo (If he doesn’t respond [He hasn’t checked on in a while], we’ll move on)

Intellect bowed, and saw the Eternal King. He hugged the frozen figure, clinging to it as he would a lifeline. His face was set as stone, and he kneeled as the figure crumbled away.

His decisions hurt people, he knew. But… he saw. It helped him to see.

Standing, he looked away from the others, fading into a grey figure.

”I see now.”

Jakob stands there. Waiting for something to happen

She looked at him. She made herself.

He nodded to her, and forged a body for himself. It was the frame of the Eternal King, draped in a blue cloth that rippled in an absent breeze.

He nodded to her. “I am sorry. Truly.”

He kneeled.

The power prompted him. It was waiting.

She gasped a bit and took a half step back. He.. he was… but before he didn’t seem…
