I'm rereading SA5 and got to a section where Dalinar is in the spiritual realms seeing possible versions of himself.

Quote

He opened his eyes.

For the briefest moment, he stood on a burned hillside at night, in a land with a strange pale moon. A broken city smoldered before him, one with high walls that had been shattered, and within it a strange people. He raised what he knew was a weapon, though it was no sword or polearm, and unleased lines of light while the armies surged around him.

I think the section is interesting and I'm wondering if we can track down what city it is the blackthorn is attacking.

- has a wall

- the planet has a moon (eliminating scadrial as a potential planet)

So while it could be any walled city my money is it being on Elantris. So this would be crazy for Brandon to foreshadow a Roshar invasion of Elantris.

Also the blackthorn might be using a gun of some kind.

Thoughts?

Elantris seems the most likely big city; especially in the case of the Blackthorn’s army using what sounds like Invested firearm weaponry, most cities wouldn’t particularly need walls at that tech level (ish) but Elantris would still stand.

Quick check - First of the Sun, Sel, Nathis, and Taldain do have moons, while Scadrial, Threnody, and Ashyn do not. Several more relevant places (Dhatri, Yolen) we don’t know.

The weapon sounds like some kind of laser cannon, so this looks like a far-future possibility.

If this scene ends up happening at all, I don’t think it will be in the Stormlight series.
