Time for a bit of lore-ish stuff…

There was a knock on the door. It annoyed the king; he was in the middle of something with Cossie and Yora.

“What!”

Another girl, this one about 18, cracked open the door and peeked in. “I’m sorry, my king, I know you’re busy, but.. my head hurts, and some of the others said that you got rid of their headaches in the past.. I didn’t want to interrupt you, but it hurts really bad-“

The king rose from the girls. “I’ll be right back.” He stepped out into the hallway with his other concubine. “You were right to come to me, my dear.”

He set his hands on the sides of her head. Her eyes closed, and she sighed with relief.

Yes, dear, truth is pain. I’ll take that pain from you before its damage is done.

He took his hands from her. She smiled, curtsied, and kissed the back of his hand. “Thank you, my king.”

”Of course, dear. Now run along. You wouldn’t want to be kept waiting either, would you?”

”Of course not.” She curtsied again and left. The king returned to Cossie and Yora with no further delays.

Taylor shakes his head. "No flame."

Herald snorts. “The Flame is eternal. Even when I am not in its presence, it burns on.”

"So can you leave the flame somewhere?"

“The Flame is not something I ‘carry’.”

"Do you can give it to someone else?"

“No…”

He frowned. “This is not the Flame. And it is the Flame. The Flame is not limited to a single fire, rather, it is all fire.”

Taylor blinked. "Ok. I need a crazy person translator." He walks outside and comes back with a little girl. She has orange hair with blonde mixed in.

Herald states at her. “Who are you?”

She runs forward. "I'm chloey." She scrambles up his chair and stands in his lap.

Rex

Rex walks home, the prophecy mulling in his mind. It's his first- and hopefully last- vision. he doesn't want to end up like his uncle, broken and unable to tell fact from future. He stops at a coffee shop...

Who runs that?

Sandra

Sandra walks into the military camp just outside the city, gathering her team for their synch training. Together, the six of them, ranging from young men to middle-aged women ( though Sandra would say she's still young), can make substantial High Wards, which block everything but light from passing through.

"How's it going, Derrik?" She asks the young red-headed man on her team, who jumps to attention, ripping his gaze from the blond man doing conditioning.

"Good, Ma'am!" He said, back straighter than he was. He's clearly terrified

Sandra laughs. "At ease, Soldier!" As he relaxes, she asks, "So what's his name?"

Derrik blushes before mubling, "His name is Sam..."

"I remember the days." Sandra says, still laughing, "Enjoy them. Eventually, you'll end up a crabby old person like me!" She slaps him on the back, "Remember the Specters are meeting in 25!" and continues on through the camp.

Jasmine

Jasmine walks down the road, a pep in her step, dragging her brother, Ahmed, behind her. It'll be good to get him some fresh air. She thinks to herself. "Come on!"

Ahmed

I walk down the unhewn cobble, torn from the precipice. The stones swim and rot, I can taste the eyes on me, watching, wondering. Always wondering. I know the king has done something, worked something grand. But how? But how....

Ahmed laughs madly.
