 Tears had been in her eyes as she’d yelled at him, and now they began to fall. She shook her head. She muttered, “This isn’t my fault.”

She turned, walking quite a distance away from everyone else. They could still see her, but she would not be talking to any of them. Unless Aela came over alone.

“When- when Mirth’s Threads entered me, I guess I became her replacement? Her successor? I’m not really sure, but with what Intellect has been saying that’s what makes the most sense. And when we met up with him- the Threads invading him, I took those on, and they latched on to me. I don’t know if I can get rid of them. But it almost felt like they changed my makeup, my will. She hesitated. “The Spirits didn’t have a physical presence in our world- not like they do here. And if I have to replace Mirth.. I don’t know if I can go home with you.”

"I don't have anything waiting for me back home. Sure, it would be nice . . . but it's not necessary."
