Is Cultivation’s plan bigger than expected? Nohadon specifically has been the center of a lot of speculation but he could be part of Cultivation’s machinations.

We know that Taln lost a weapon trying to kill Cultivation. Speculation is that it makes the most sense for this to be a Dawnshard. The Change Dawnshard being on Roshar and somehow residing on Aimia. But, how did it get there.

A lot is made of Nohadon’s philosophical outlook, but it’s important to remember that he seemed to be a warrior king and Surgebinder before that. Like Dalinar, not a man you’d expect to be a Philosopher, but what made him change. Dalinar had Way of Kings, but what about Nohadon. Perhaps, Cultivation gave him the Dawnshard or arranged for him to get it?

As a former Dawnshard holder, his spiritweb would be modified and he’d become heavily invested. He’d Change as it commands from Warrior to Philosopher. He’d write a Book that allows Dalinar to do similar.

Then he appears to Dalinar twice. Both times to discuss major things that need to Change. The first discussion is where “Sometimes a hypocrite is just a man in the process of Changing” and then the second conversation  is about how the power of Honor needs time to learn and Change.

So, could the man have given up his DawnShard to guardians in Aimia, his Shardplate (Cord’s Plate) to guard it, and retreated to the Spiritual Realm to continue guiding people to Change?

Also, probably unrelated but the two foods from Nohadon’s visions are bags of grain and Shin Bread. Possibly a vegetarian like Hoid?

There's also the quote about who set him on his path.

“Those words came to me from one who claimed to have seen the future,” the voice said, echoing in the hallway. Feminine, familiar. “

‘How is this possible?’ I asked in return. ‘Have you been touched by the void?’

“The reply was laughter. ‘No, sweet king. The past is the future, and as each man has lived, so must you.’

.....

“ ‘The question,’ she replied, ‘is not whether you will love, hurt, dream, and die. It is what you will love, why you will hurt, when you will dream, and how you will die. This is your choice. You cannot pick the destination, only the path.’ ”

All in all, it tells us his path was set by a female with strong futuresight and no ties to the Void. Cultivation makes the most sense, imo.

I like this theory. I don't love this theory, but I think it's more likely than him being Adonalsium. I'm of the opinion that Nohadon is #justadude, but dawnshard Nohadon isn't bad at all.

That last part though, is definitely just a coincidence. Hoid and Him would have held different Dawnshards, and I really doubt that Change stops you from eating meat in the same way Exist would.

From the Coppermind:

Quote

At some unspecified point in the past, prior to the Recreance, the Dawnshard associated with the concept of Change was brought through Cultivation's Perpendicularity in the Horneater Peaks.[1]

And, "It is unknown what path the Dawnshard Change traveled from the Peaks."

Also Urithiru was set up relatively close to the Peaks, and to the Valley of the Nightwatcher.

So, the Change Dawnshard being in the ambit of Cultivation seems highly likely, per the relevant timeframe, i.e. as something Taln would've been minded to seek out in trying to kill Cultivation, and as something Nohadon could have been using to Surgebind prior to the Knights.
