Acolyte of Radiance Posted January 6, 2025 Posted January 6, 2025 A line in wit and truth supports this, ( something something the homuncules says says)additionally, there is Is the “I began as words on a page” line, maybe referencing how in fantasy homuncules are typically man made. Maybe he started out as some sort of yolish semi human. Also explains the name hoid, he stole it from his master who awakened him . This is probably false, though I’d like to hear thoughts

This is probably false, though I’d like to hear thoughts This line and idea was expressed by Dalinar in Ch 127: Spoiler “Wit,” Dalinar said. “Please. No jokes.” Wit tucked away his watch. “Navani had a similar air around me when she returned. What happened in there?” “The visions tried to replicate you and found it impossible.” Wit smiled. “Please don’t let that pad your ego,” Dalinar said. The Homunculus was just a vision version of Wit, but by trying to connect with his Hoid's actual Spiritweb to display that fragment of history from Alaswha, it had "issues." At least that was my interpretation. 1
Leuthie Posted January 7, 2025 Posted January 7, 2025 Wit/Hoid/Midius/Cephandrius has changed so many times, he probably doesn't have a true sense himself or who he was during the scouring of Alaswha. The Connections are so tangled, even the Spiritual Realm itself has a hard time piecing them together. He is a real person, born naturally: Spoiler dgenio8 (paraphrased) Was the Hoid we see born naturally, or was he created? Brandon Sanderson (paraphrased) He was born naturally. Lisbon signing (Nov. 7, 2016) 1

Also, doesn’t he say that he spent several days after the scouring comatose and staring off into the distance, pondering what he did wrong? Part of his problem was that he wasn’t 100% compos mentis, and isn’t really keeping himself together when talking to Dalinar 1
