Markolius Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 So, I was thinking, if Vorinism will still be a thing in the times of the next Return, and everyone will figure out that Kal became a Herald, ardents must give him a symmetrical name to worship. Tried to mirror his own name (Kaladinidalak), but it's too long, too bulky, and sounds like Kalak. Don't remember if we had anything about principles of changing names of Heralds except that they became symmetrical. Do you have any ideas what it will be?
RedBlue Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 I don’t think Vorinism is going to try to give Kaladin a symmetrical name. The names various cultures use for the Heralds grew over time as languages shifted and clergies misinterpreted history. If Kaladin picks up extra names, it will be in the far future, and by that point Vorinism might have dropped the obsession with palindromes. 1
a Faceless Immortal he/him Posted December 12, 2024 Posted December 12, 2024 Kaladin Stormblessedesselbmrost nidalak'elin, Herald of Sad People, Herald of the Almighty. Really rolls of the tongue. 3

However, they chould do what they did wit ash (Shalash) and mirror the name the other way round. Maybe Lakal or Dakalad or Nidalakaladin. All sound a little clunky to me (maybe swapping some letters for "h" would sound better), but it is an option. Lastly, Ishar isn't symmetrical, so not all names became symmetrical with Vorinism. Edit: Now that I think it through, Ishi is symmetrical Edited December 12, 2024 by Forged Herald

I thought it was part of her character that made her go by ash. she hates being worshipped so she deliberately de-symmetrifies her name to make it less holy.
