Stockman Posted November 27, 2024 Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Hi everyone! The latest chapter releases for WaT, Ch 33, is out! Thought it would be fun to talk about the vision Renarin had in Chapter 30 with new information that we just got. In Ch 30, in Renarin's vision, we see a group of 12 people in a green field, presumably Shinovar, and it looks like Syl may be one of those people because of the blue skinned woman, and a Makabaki and Horneater were the two others described. Renarin feels a sense of peace looking at this. In Ch 33, Ishar once again claims he has ascended to Almighty which is not surprising, but the Wind says to Kaladin "Together we must preserve a remnant of Honor. Somehow…" The Wind says this right after meeting Ishar. My theory, is that what if ALL the people who are strongly and repeatedly saying that they are pieces of Honor ARE in fact the pieces of Honor. Honor May be in the Hearts of Men, but maybe not ALL men, just a handful of extremely honorable persons? It's said that the 12 people in Renarin's vision are all men, no other species. Here's a guess at who could be the individuals holding significant shattered pieces of Honor, and mini-ascended. Syl is always saying she is a piece of Honor, so she may be one, (or she is a piece of Honor that belongs to Kaladin). We see her in the vision. Her role as the Ancient Daughter is important somehow. Ishar might be right when he says he's the Almighty, he's just ascended as one piece of it. Also, how is he holding and handling the extra suffering for the other Heralds like he mentioned in Ch 33? He seems to have extra or deeper endurance for this. He also opens a perpendicularity. Like Dalinar. Dalinar may have ascended, according to Odium. I feel like Odium would know, but Dalinar is also not showing the signs of being fully ascended. He may just as ascended as Ishar. It's worth mentioning too, that he seems honorable to a fault. I imagine the Makabaki is Nale. He never abandoned his sense of honor, and it might have something to do with his 5th Ideal. Nale also seems to follow a certain kind of honorable-ness to a fault as well (we know he never abandoned the Skybreaker oaths at a minimum, because he's still a Skybreaker). Rock may be the horneater in the vision. Kaladin mentions that it seems like Rock is "spoken for" by someone or something instead of an Honorspren. Rock is honorable to a fault- he is going to Horneater Mountains to receive justice for him using a bow, when realistically not too many people would care. Sezth is also Honorable to a fault, considering what he did as a Truthless. I would include him as possibility having a piece of splintered Honor because he shared this honorable to a fault trait with everyone else listed here. I'm racking my brain for any other people who are honorable to a fault to add to the list. Any ideas? My other mini-theory is the 5th oath is person becoming a Concept, or a cognitive being. If the 5th ideal is that Kaladin becomes "Protection". It may be a kind of selflessness to become an ideal itself, instead of a person. This has been hinted all along from Kaladin's reputation (the idea or concept of Kaladin) - the ground is laid for how he would become a concept, it's repeatedly emphasized the difference between Kaladin the person and Kaladin the idealized reputation, and this can explain how he could possibly be present in Sunlit Man for Sigzil to see again. If Syl is drawn into the Physical, why not Kaladin into the Cognitive? Maybe he becomes a concept of "Protection", just like Nale becomes "Law". Also, anyone remember how "Bravery" was weirdly capitalized when Todium ascended? Is Bravery one of the old gods, like Wind? Cheers, all : ) Edited November 27, 2024 by Stockman
Stockman Posted November 27, 2024 Author Posted November 27, 2024 (edited) Oh man, I forgot Adolin. He's incredibly honorable, and he was the main character when all the Honorspren were chanting about "Honor is in the hearts of men". The Stormfather is also repeatedly mentioned as a splinter of Honor, but he's not a man? Maybe he's included with Dalanar through the nahel bond. Maybe Kaladin is a shard of Honor for the same reason, through Syl? Edited November 27, 2024 by Stockman
