Her senses started to dim, though the effect was not nearly as pronounced as before. After a small time, a man ran close by, seeming as if he were screaming. Only a faint voice could be heard. His eyes seemed to lock on to Aela, and he approached. "Run!" Though the word seemed strained, as if proclaimed in an effort to shake the world, it came out as just barely a whisper.

She started, paused for a moment, then chose to ignore it and continued at her normal pace.

He just barely saw a man approach Aela and heard a whisper from him.

Stay low. Fear will be in the darkest portions of the land before you.

This "land" was a wasteland, a scar on reality itself. Flames had taken it, and the result was a barren plane expanding endlessly. Smoke rose from the land, fires curiously still burning. It created a veil of constant occlusion, smoke threatening to choke the senses. And the smell. A charcoal, endless and threatening, constantly attempting to seize attention.

"This is what I fight, Cole. I fight, not just Fear, but Rage. Those who seek to take what I have created."

Felicity’s hand clung tightly to hers.

Hi, I'm new. Could I get a little recap?

Welcome! Our characters were accused of heresy by an earl and were ordered to kill a duke. As they went they were selected by beings called the Great Spirits to be their Servants, which also gave them powers. I thing Spirit should explain the rest

Ok.

Im not sure if this counts as a dble post, but waddaheck.

The Great Spirits are these really cool people that created the world.

Madness created it, specifically (you may hear mentions of her in TLT)

As she was creating, two others, Intellect and Mirth, (there are more, but I’ll get there later) decided to pitch in, as well as another, Rage, whose goal was instead to destroy it, because he doesn’t think it should have happened.

For a time, Madness had ultimate power, control over a special stone called the Archstone, the blueprint and encoding of the world. It bound every participant Spirit, so Madness was, for a time, the most powerful one.

But then Madness agreed to relinquish control of the Archstone, watch her world grow and change. And so, each of the participant Spirits were pulled away from the world, unable to affect it.

But Madness didn’t particularly like that after a few hundred years. So she exploited a loophole in order to further her goals - if she pulled a human’s Thread in the Archstone towards her (they have to meet certain requirements), they could access the threads near her. And so, she cultivated Servants. Other Spirits did the same, resulting in an ongoing struggle for the Archstone, which only Intellect knows the location of (before now).

Each Spirit gives the following abilities:

In the presence of x, the Servant gets stronger and heals their wounds heal. In exchange for stretching their Thread, they can pull and influence/create x, which takes away some life force, weakening them and potentially killing them. The x that they create cannot fuel them, but if others create x, they can use that to strengthen themselves.

Rage: x = fire

Intellect: x = cold (not ice :))

Mirth: x = emotion

Madness: x = wind

Rage is neutral evil,

Madness true chaos,

Mirth chaotic good

Intellect lawful neutral (though leans towards good)

Right now, most (not Rage have agreed to set aside their differences and deal with the newest threat, Fear, an invader Spirit that’s allied with Rage and does not have the same Archstone bindings as the others.

Calm has come to help.

(I should save this)

You should go see if there are any artifacts you can take!

Aela started through the fog, still holding Felicity's hand.

Further down the path, the air started to warm, heating them quickly - if they could feel the heat. They could just barely make out in front of them, but it seemed to brighten.

The board tore through the smoke, but it was unclear whether it connected.

Attack from all directions.

Blood drips from Cole as he slams together a large ring of wind at ground level, aiming to shred everything within the fog with airborne grit and underbrush. The updraft crashes into him, and he heals back much of the life force.

Sometimes these notifs just... don't come through...

Also... smart. Should bypass the can't charge yourself... :)

The smoke rustles, clearing. As it did so, a dark form, seen only by Calmsight, rose from the smoke.

He’s losing a decent amount of life force with the attack, just not as much as if he’d done it from the ground.
And yes, my notifs too are sometimes lost.

Cole whips a board at the form, sure it is Fear.

She squinted and moved sluggishly.

Wonder what that is.

She kept heading towards it.

The light in front of them grew bigger, the air warming noticeably now.

A blurry figure seemed to be blocking some of it.
