"Many of my associates would argue otherwise--they don't want peace, they want the land they see as theirs returned to them. Your sovereignty is not well respected here, not so soon after war."

Forrest stood, pacing a little in thought.

"But don't worry, warmongering and threats are not to my liking, nor do they serve my purposes. You were wise to come to me with this request. Unlike most, my interests aren't wholly aligned with the state--My country is an end to a means."

"Why don't you agree to do me a few grand favors, and I'll see what strings I can pull. I doubt you'll get a similar offer elsewhere, most wouldn't even be willing to speak with you."

Oo . . .

Aerol bandaged up her more serious wounds, as well as Evan's, then walked around and picked the fallen Shardspears out of the dirt.

Four shots again, she sighed, walking around and throwing the weapons she didn't want deep into the jungle where they wouldn't be found.

(Assuming it matched the conversation and didn’t have fine print,) He signed it.

(It does).

Forest took the contract and signed it himself, then Maylee passed around another copy for them to sign so they could each keep one.

After that was done, Forrest stood and held out his hand for the ambassador to shake it.

"I suppose everything's in order then? I'll do my part in helping our winners conveniently disappear."

Falr shook. “Thank you for agreeing to speak with me.”

"Of course," He said with a pointed smile.

Maylee waved politely towards the door, "I can show you out sir."

Ohohoh

Berin appeared rather suddenly.

You know, once they are all together, you can probably just feast. Just as the ever benevolent Gamemakers ordered!

I hope so, but I won't defy the Gamemakers just yet if they don't.

Yep! Even if they try to kill you, you’d probably just sit around wondering when they were going to feed their glorified hound!

The Greenspine's yellow eyes brightened from behind a nearby bush, pupils dilating. The hunger... it was overwhelming. So many tributes... all in one place... tired out from fighting... perfect opportunity... Droplets of saliva slid down the leaves and branches of the bush and darkened the dirt beneath it.

Evan watched their surroundings very intently, looking for any possible sign of other tributes. Now that the small fight had ended, his adrenaline was beginning to wear off, and he just wanted to be done. He was so tired.

That could be arranged…

Evan and Aerol heard a roar. It was close.

Murr trudged through the jungle alone, his mind a haze of lights and colors. The only thing that told him where to place his feet was the assistance from the Aviar, providing a weak substitute for his own spinning vision.

Evan thought he heard something moving in the bushes ahead, coming towards them.

"Do you hear that?" he asks, turning to Aerol.

Evan raised his tomahawk and slowed his breathing, trying to ready himself for the fight to come.
