There's a constables station a few blocks away. Some lazy looking soldiers were lounging outside, bottle in hand.

"Um April," August asked politely after dodging under a slash from March.

"Would it bother you so much as to lend a hand? I'd appreciate it." He was looking a little worse for wear.

"Constables! There's a fight! Many deadly weapons!"

“I’m going to speak with them in the tavern where we’re staying. You’re welcome to come with.” She turned, looking at July and August in turn.

"I'm welcome to arrest them for desertion they way we're meant to!" He yelled.

August glanced between him and April. "I don't like the idea of just leaving him . . . he'll come after us again."

One of them stood up, a little wobbly but less drunk then the others. "A fight? That sounds fun who is it?"

"That's the idea, August."

She turned back to March. "We're going to arrest them no matter what. But it's early in the morning, and I need to talk to them. We'll get them breakfast, I'll talk with them, and we'll take them back to Jouken. Understood?"

"But he'll attack us again," August insisted, not getting her point. "I don't think I can fight him again . . ."

"I'd love to talk things out April," July said, "But we can't as long as we're in danger."

"See?!" March smirked. "We have this in the bag, just distract them so I can break free and tie them up. We'll be on our way to Jouken by noon!"

She glared at August. It seemed she wanted to talk to him in particular.

"March. We are going to arrest them. But we're going to feed them first."

"What do their stomachs have to do with anything? They don't look destitute." But he was loosing fire. It was becoming increasingly apparent that convincing April would take longer then negotiations.

The man who'd spoken and a few others who could walk followed her to the square, taking in the scene of August holding a sword up to March, and the others around them.

"Now I heard there was some trouble, you folks are keeping it entertaining right?" The one who looked the most in charge asked.

"W-we were just attacked by that man," July said, pointing at March, "But I think it's under control . . ."

"Well, I hope you can solve this. I need to get to work." She makes her way over to the nearest inn.

"Fine . . ." March said suddenly. "But you'll be to blame when Father asks us why we took so long."

August seemed unsure, and didn't lower his sword.

"Oh stop being so paranoid," he pushed it away with his finger. "I just agreed to let you guys talk . . . this had better not take more then half a day though."

August went back to the side of the road and retrieved their horses. "Lead the way."

She went to a booth in the corner of the tavern they'd been in a few minutes prior. She laced her fingers and set her elbows on the table, her chin into her hands.

August slid in first and July sat next to him, both across from her.

They'd asked the rest of the party to sit elsewhere so the three of them could have a private conversation.

After a few moments of silence, she sighed, "You left me."

August didn't say anything.

"Yeah . . .well . . ." July wasn't sure how to respond.

"It turned into something more permanent then I meant it too, April," August finally said. How was he going to explain this to her?

"I was alone. You two were the only ones I could really talk to and-"

She swallowed the lump in her throat. "You said we'd leave together. You promised, August."

"I wasn't meant to leave too," July said. "I stirred up my own trouble and things didn't go to plan."

She sighed again. "Either way, you left me alone. I... I got sick, and I nearly died."

“Four weeks after you left.”

"How though? You were still just in Jouken weren't you?" July asked, they both looked concerned.
