"Noon." He left and came back with bread, butter, cheese, and water.

"Alright, thanks." He ate it slowly, still watching the other employees work.

Jolane hung the wet dresses on the clothesline in the back. They would be dry in a few hours.

She entered the tavern through the back door. She came through to the main room, though she seemed to be purposely avoiding July and Ma'tani.

One of the witch hunters walked in again, without a hood or the rest of his gang. He sat down at a table and shouted for ale.

Robert approached. "Before that. You and your buddies caused quite a ruckus last night. Broke a few chairs in the mayhem, and nearly burned down my tavern."

Ma'tani watched her for a moment, silently.

Yeah, we spooked her, all right...

She stood up and slowly walked over to July, and sat down at the same table as him.

"You have a plan for gathering information?" She asked softly.

"My training starts at noon, I'll try and small talk with the owner. He wants me to handle his finances, so I should be able to snoop through the businesses transactions."

Robert approached. “Is there anything I can get for you?”

"Just some cheese and bread would be fine."

"You do look familiar." Niamh replied.

"Good. See how much he's paying her. When she got hired. Things like that." She leaned back. "Now I just have to find something to do all day..."

“Servant’s room,” he said plainly.

“Hello. Can I get you anything?” Then Crabsbius called, and Robert said, “Hold that thought.” He gave him his glass of water and came back to July. “My apologies.”

"THANK YOU!"

Sorry. What is happening?

"Maybe you see if there's any local gossip we should know?" He shrugged. "If we both poke around in different spots we'll find something."

Ma'tani nodded, completely serious. "Yeah. That's a possibility, too."

And if that is the case...

"True. I might go poke around town a little." She also wanted to look into the man that had been labelled as a "witch" the previous day. If he'd somehow got his hands on Shenai technology, that was something she was interested in.

"Uh...where'd you get that food?"

"Want some?" He pushed the basket of bread and tray of butter towards her. "The owner gave it to me, Robert I think. You can order yourself, I'm sure."

Niamh collected some cheese and bread from Robert, and ate while she tuned her fiddle.

After a few minutes, she saw the young waitress walk by.

"Waitress!" she called. "Would you come here?"

She did. "Can I help you?"

Ma'tani grabbed a hunk of the bread.

"Let me know if you find anything." Then she ducked into the corners of the room.

Jolane was chatting with that minstrel from the previous night...Ma'tani considered talking to her, once Jolane had left.

There was also the "witch-hunter". Though Ma'tani didn't particularly feel like gathering the patience to deal with him at the moment.
