RoyalBeeMage he/him Posted August 11, 2024 Posted August 11, 2024 this is just something I've been wondering. how would a character's development progress with multiple spren of different types? for example, being a stoneward and a windrunner. they have completely different surges and I wonder how different of a personality you would need to bond them both... what would someone with all ten be like? what contradictions would arise between oaths?

Some would be easier, others would be harder. I don't think Lightweavers will struggle with their Ideals when they are a member of another order. Their Ideals are Truths about them. But orders like Windrunners and Skybreakers might have a very hard time merging together. One is about upholding and following the law to the letter, the other is about protecting all and morality. If Kaladin in WoK was both a Windrunner and a Skybreaker, he would have been unable to protect his fellow bridgemen without losing his bond with his Highspren for example. Windrunners, Willshapers and Edgedancers might be a good mix because they are all heavily focused on morality. Similarly Dustbringers, Truthwachers and Elsecallers might also work well together because their individual philosophies share a lot with each other - Dustbringers are about self-mastery, Truthwachers are about finding the ultimate truth, Elsecallers are about reaching their true potential. However, it's really hard to judge them all without knowing every Ideal - and that's the most important thing here. 4
