Wyldri crouched near the fallen monster's remains, feeling the stone dust with one translucent hand.

"I don't know about you, but I've never found these things roaming around in the wild. I think something, or someone, created it. Now, why would they create this? What are they trying to protect? Questions, so many questions..."

The stone is a sandy color, and crumbles fairly easily the touch. Whatever was holding it together his given up by now. Swirly patterns covered the surface of all of the animal parts, vine-like in texture. As if the creature had been attempting to blend in to it's surroundings, but ultimately failed because of it's material.

Kurtis turned to glance at the sky. The fight had disturbed the forest, and most of the noise-making life had fled, or gone silent. He wondered if that was a good thing or not.

With an exhausted sigh, he picked up his sword, and turned to the trial he'd been carving.

It was mid-afternoon now, and it felt like their progress had been painstakingly slow. Kurtis wondered if he'd be reprimanded by higher ups if their job was delayed.

They continued to cut through the jungle and such and I'm tired of describing it you get the idea.

Sometime in the afternoon, they finally reached something that wasn't annoyingly large plant matter. Kurtis swung at the latest branch in their with his sword. He brought it down, severing the wood, but as it fell the end of his blade CLANGED against something hard in the shrubbery beyond.

"What the?" He struggled with the foliage for a bit, but he managed to clear it revealing a stone. Not just a boulder, but a large human-cut brick.

Shoving his way through more plants, he stubbled into a clearing-ish. The remains of a few stone buildings covered the small area. Most of them were little more then one or two walls, and the plants had almost completely swallowed them. A large, dark bird sat on the top of the highest crumbling wall, eyeing them as they approached.

"Well that's different!" Kurtis exclaimed. "Probably here before the jungle."

“It looks like a ruin… some ancient civilization maybe? I’m not familiar with this part of the world. Anyone else got some ideas?”

Arranis reaches out, touching some of the stone. "Cant feel any souls nearby, and these stones have not been touched by any Alma" Arranis reports looking at the bird. "Dont like that thing though"

"intresting..." roy murmerd as he felt the rocks with his own internal power. he eyed the bird and felt a pang of death and hate and decay from it... roy backed away from it imidietly

Wyldri studied it intently. "This could be anything really. A farmhouse, a temple, a fortress... We should investigate further." She glanced at the bird.

Kurtis pointed ahead at the most intact building, at the near center of the ruins. "That one looks the least untouched. Maybe there's some clues? Not to mention, it'll be a great place to make camp."

The large bird squawked, and the flew off as they moved further in.

Kurtis got to the buildings empty doorway first.

"This is so cool! We don't really have ruins where I come from."

"I agree," Wyldri said, "It's better than out in the middle of the jungle." She quickly followed behind. "Surely you've had civilizations predating your own, right?"

"they come from space! who knows what they're like. for all we know they are their first civilisation. doubfull though it is."

"hang on! i recognise these ruins... they are found far to the south east... in the jungle of toxins... it shouldnt be here! we shouldnt be here!"

"Well . . . my home planet is a gas giant actually. All of are cities floating on clouds." He did his best to explain without getting too science-y.

"When a city is abandoned, no one maintains it and gives it the power to float, so any 'ruins' just fall into the superheated gaseous center of the planet and burn away."

yeah, so context, these ruins were definitely here before the jungle, but they're pretty small so I doubt it'd be famous.

Kurtis entered the main building, looking around. It was mostly just dull grey bricks, rotting and cracking. Even so, he looked fascinated. 

On the far wall of the first room was another doorway, with only darkness beyond. It seemed that part of the building still had a roof.
