Good post, Unodus. I quite enjoyed reading it.

Voidus is right, though. This goes for everyone participating. If you are going to do something with somebody else's character, ask them first. If you want it to be a surprise, ask them in a PM so the rest of us don't know (although I'd kind of like to be included in those, for GM purposes), but asking permission is the first rule of using others' characters.

Ah... Sorry about that, I'll definitely keep that in mind for future reference- I do tend to get carried away once I'm in the middle of writing something... .3.;

I didn't mean to appear rude, I can still edit the post if it is an issue.

In terms of Samuels Reaction, I figured if the dice was thrown at him- he'd be forced to take his hand off his sword hilt to catch the dice (assuming he isn't ambidextrous) and therefore would be distracted long enough by his instinctive reflexes for Shuster to cross the room and apply Chronomancy. I wasn't aware that Familiars intangibility could reduce the affect of Chronomancy either x.x

In regard to rules, I have to admit I am slightly out of my depth here experience-wise compared to anyone else here, so my knowledge of basic rules is rather limited in that regard. Not that I'm trying to make excuses, I'm learning fast- but I will occasionally slip up sometimes. .x.

Again, I apologize for being disrespectful- and I'm fine with changing the post if that is necessary. It won't happen again .3.

No problem, it's not too out of character, he'd just be more likely to react by trying to chop the dice in half than try to catch it. I imagine battle would hone the instinct to not just catch things your enemies throw at you :P
On the familiar intangibility thing I meant more getting trapped by the door, I have no idea if chronomancy would affect them.

But yeah I think it's all within bounds of reason for Samuel, he's had a stressful day of trying to burn everyone so he might be a little more susceptible to trickery, and I do like it for story purposes since he'd stay in contact with other Player characters this way.

Alright, we've been dead for long enough! I just posted a new Lord Earney view, as well as bringing back an Inquisitor viewpoint character. Anybody else is free to go now.

Hey guys, we can't let this die. Seo and I are working on Bran and Avar's conversation which will be us soon I hope and I think we can all admit this is an epic story so far.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, BreathTaker. I'm kind of hoping for Samuel's response to being taken prisoner by Shuster. Or maybe a Murk post (hint hint, Kobold... :P )

And yes, this is shaping up to be the beginning of an Epic story.

I noticed a post of Joe's on the Paidia thread, and I think it fits the situation. For an RP to thrive, the characters have to be interacting with each other. If they are all just off doing their own thing, then it doesn't work, and the RP dies. Let's get our characters meeting up before this RP goes the way of Tamriel.

(Even if this does go that way, though, I'm still going to post worldbuilding stuff for Edassa! Can't stop this train now!)

I considered a Samuel post but it would only be internal monologue, and I kind of assumed they'd knock him out as soon as possible since as soon as his mouth gets free for a second his captors would be in a lot of trouble.

Like Murk herself, I'm just a touch confused about what's going on in the fight. I'll refresh myself by reading all the latest posts again, then I'll try to put up another post for her.

Ok so how are we all going to meet up? If my plan goes off smoothly, I will be handing control of my army over to Seonid so he can GM what happens (with opinions on the Raven Banner's tactics of course) but Bran will be leaving the city shortly and marching back ready to kick some chull.

Can we get a role call of who all is in Menkor right now? There's: Me, KK, Joe, Voidus and Unodus so far as I can tell. Anyone else?

That's about it, BreathTaker. Mailliw has a character he is planning on bringing in, and Quiver is still in the character creation process, so I think that this is the sum total of the characters in Menkor right now.

You have a point, Voidus...

That is an unintended side effect of the words of power, but a perfectly valid one.

And yes, Kobold, I am always ready to deal with thy nonsensical madness. Even when it manifests in crocodile form. Especially when it manifests in crocodile form.

New discussion topic:

Enchanted weapons!

Magical or enchanted weapons are rare, but do exist in Edassa. They are created by binding a spirit to the weapon/armor with specific commands to perform the desired functions. All such bindings significantly increase the durability of the weapon, as well as making it far easier to interact with the Spiritual Realm.

Examples include:

A command to burst into flame when striking.

A command to guide the weapon into making more accurate/deadly hits

A command to directly strike at the target's spiritual/physical bonds

A command to give off light when in the presence of enemies.

And so on.

Amazing post, Seonid and Breathtaker! :D

I take it this process of combining Posts is necessary for moments of conversation and combat between players? I was unaware of such a technique... :X

If Voidus and Kobold are struggling with continuing their own story because of my blunder, perhaps it would be ideal to resolve the matter in a similar fashion? I too would like to keep the story going as long as possible.

As for Enchanting, that sounds awesome to me! :3

Would we have to "pay" an enchanter to enchant weapons for us, or could we do it ourselves somehow...?

Also, are there any downsides to using an enchanted weapon (ie: The spirit won't do something it really doesn't want to do, etc)?

Thanks, Unodus! And if Voidus and Kobold are ok with the idea, that sounds excellent! Just include me in the PM.

For enchanting, the only way a person can do it themselves is if they are a magic user. Otherwise, you have to go to a weapon enchanter to get it done. Enchantment is not a significant portion of the economy, as so few people can use magic, so magic weapons tend to end up as relics-passed down through generations in a family. Bran's character would be rather exceptional for having so many, except he's a magic user, and could have enchanted them himself.

Enchanting weapons takes the same form as casting spells. If the spirit agrees to perform the magic, then they can't back out in the middle. (Casting a spell is essentially like calling out to a room full of spirits - "Hey, I want to do "x," who will do it for me?" The spirits tend to jump at the chance because it lets them interact with the Material Realm, which they otherwise couldn't do.) So if the weapon has some effect, it will always have that effect unless the spell that enchanted the weapon made exceptions. For example, if the caster wanted a weapon to burst into flame when it hit a target unless the wielder is trying to hurt a priest who followed a certain god, then he could do that. (As long as he could figure out a reliable way to tell what god a priest worshiped, and a way for the spirit to distinguish between a priest and a regular worshiper, that is.)

WE MUST HAVE POSTAGE!!!!!

Bran's enchantments:

Armor: Virgin's blessing. Heal Minor wounds, gift from his mentor.

Gungnir(Spear): Argon's flame. Spear bursts into a golden flame and increases accuracy of strikes when Bran wills it. He doesn't do it often because he likes to rely on his skill. He did the enchantment himself.

Balmung (Sword): Edge of Infinty. Never dulls or nicks. Also a self enchantment.

Svalinn: Aegis. Has an increased chance to knock aside a blow from an enemy weapon.

Jotunfist: Touch of the Giant. Freezes enemy flesh on contact. Enchantment done by Svalding Shaman

Allenir: Bite of the Wolf. Sears flesh on contanct. Same shaman.

Let me know if these work Se.

Excellent. All of those are well within the capabilities of a normal shaman, and none are overpowered.

I like them a lot, BreathTaker!

And I agree that we need more postage, but I am at a loss about how to get it...

Well like I said there's not much I can post for Samuel until he's taken somewhere, his post now would just be him mentally ranting at his captors and trying to work his mouth free so he could kill them all.

Posted

That seems like the best choice right now Voidus. I think I've posted as many flashbacks as seem relevant.

Posted

Well, if Voidus can't do much until he's taken somewhere- maybe I should use my post to... take him somewhere? :V

Before I can do that, though- can I confirm that the tunnels are clear? Unless there's anything barricading the way back to the king, it should be just a home run to the kings table, right? :B

Sorry I've been gone for a while, had a Quantum Mechanics test I was prepping for. I'm back again, and I'll have some more worldbuilding information up within the next few days.

Hey, I just finished this cool doodle I did of all the characters! :D

I picked through the character sheets everyone submitted and tried doing my impression of them, with varying results...

I'm not the best drawer- in fact, I'm still pretty new to it, but I think it turned out pretty cool- although, I had to guess a lot of the details for Quiver and Maill... That's not going to contradict the "plz don't do stuff with my character" rule, right? .3.;

I was thinking it would make a nice signature, since I haven't come up with anything witty enough myself for one yet :B

Is that ok with you guys? I was thinking of adding it the roleplaying section of the Gallery, so I figured I should ask you all first.. :X

edit: Uh... its also probably worth noting that it does not include Ponies... Is that going to be a problem? .3.;

That's amazing! I want to see them! :D

I'm excited to see everyone's but of course I'm especially excited to see Bran the bloody Blessed.

Well, 2 out of 5 is good enough for me :V

Since I had to make a lot of assumptions about some of the details, I don't mind making a second draft if anyone thinks I made any drastic miscalculations... :B

Perhaps taking out the annotations and spreading the characters out a bit would be ideal too, but that should be relatively easy to fix :3

+100 Upvotes. Bran looks epic. The only super minor thing is that I imagined his armor colors reversed to what you have them as but I think the way you did it makes him stand out so keep it. I love it, everyone looks great but of course I only really care about me :P
