Jo and the Bush all/any Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Wow. That's pretty cool. The Comments at the end are the best part. 2
Lord Tavash Shar Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I just got my hard copy of the AoL supplement in the mail. The next part to this is just as good.
Argent he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Wow. That's pretty cool. The Comments at the end are the best part. The truth about the Terris Stewards is that they can store sass and sarcasm in any metal, including the iron in their hemoglobin. 7
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Also, I liked your Origina Post better when it just said "Clicky!" 1
WeiryWriter he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 I'm very curious about this vow the koloss swore to the Terris people... I'd really like episode 25 please. 1
Argent he/him Posted October 21, 2014 Author Posted October 21, 2014 Also, I liked your Origina Post better when it just said "Clicky!" Oh, shush you Observant Joe. 2
king of nowhere Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 The contrast between the style of jak and that of his stweard is strangely exhilarating, in a quiet sortof way. I can't really point out why, but I can't stop laughing about it. I wonder if we'll see some of the former episodes too. I also wonder if there is a way to read the rest without buying the full rule suppplement. More in-world, I wonder how much of jak's stories are true. he certainly seems one to go for embellishment, but I'd think there would be some fundation of reality unndeneath it all. 1
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted October 21, 2014 Posted October 21, 2014 Is Jak a Tineye? Or a Mistborn? What are the Powers of all the characters?
Oudeis he/him Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 He professes to be a tineye. Telling you about the role Mistborn play in the era of Alloy of Law might be technically considered a spoiler, if you haven't read the book.
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted October 22, 2014 Posted October 22, 2014 I've read the book, but he seemed to imply that he had more than just Tin, so I was confused.
Newan he/him Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 "I made a note to myself to speak with Ranette about her heel contraption and its tendency to open unexpectedly." Is this the same Ranette from Alloy of Law?
Argent he/him Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 Most likely. How many female engineers by the name Ranette would there be in the same time period, especially in a fantasy novel, where people sharing a name is a rare occurrence? 1
king of nowhere Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 despite her low profile, she's apparently well known in the right circles.
Newan he/him Posted October 23, 2014 Posted October 23, 2014 I wonder if Wax has met Jak. Wax probably thinks Jak is a total chull. 1
Argent he/him Posted October 23, 2014 Author Posted October 23, 2014 probably thinks Jak is a total chull. Mistleavings. Mistdumps. Allo-not-a-man-cer. 5
Cstryon he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 So I haven't read this yet... But episodes 28-30? Where are the rest? Is this something I need to get the MAG for?
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted October 25, 2014 Posted October 25, 2014 This story is only in the MAG supplement. There is one episode in the novel Alloy of Law. This story has all the other episodes that have been written. 3
Twenty@20 he/him Posted October 26, 2014 Posted October 26, 2014 This Allomancer Jak story strongly reminds me of the Professor Challenger story, The Lost World by Sir Arthur C Doyle. The narrative style is very similar. And in that story, Challenger and his friends were also captured( by intelligent primate society) and Challenger was made their king, iirc. Perhaps Mr. Sanderson is paying Professor Challenger and Sir A C Doyle a tribute. 4
jensenben Posted October 28, 2014 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) I wonder if Wax has met Jak. Wax probably thinks Jak is a total chull. He certainly knows of him in a general sense. In AoL Wax specifically mentions that he keeps his metal in whiskey; that it's a great opportunity to enjoy a drink at the same time. Jaks story has the following paragraph: "They had also taken my vials of metal. Perhaps they wanted to see if those contained whiskey. Some Roughs Allomancers do store their metals in such solutions, but I have always abstained from the process. The mind of a gentleman adventurer needs to retain clarity at all times."" Kaymyth she/her Posted October 29, 2014 Posted October 29, 2014 I just got the MAG supplement yesterday, and the Allomancer Jak story was the first bit I read. I got some very odd looks from my husband as I sat there cackling like a loon. 3
Fatebreaker he/him Posted October 31, 2014 Posted October 31, 2014 (edited) I think Wayne would love this guy. He'd have Jak crying in a corner in 15 minutes, his wallet and hat traded for great cat drawing and a lovely fish head, packed to the brim with salmonella protein. This Allomancer Jak story strongly reminds me of the Professor Challenger story, The Lost World by Sir Arthur C Doyle. The narrative style is very similar. And in that story, Challenger and his friends were also captured( by intelligent primate society) and Challenger was made their king, iirc. Perhaps Mr. Sanderson is paying Professor Challenger and Sir A C Doyle a tribute. Except Challenger wasn't a complete twit, unlike our intreprid Jak. Edited November 2, 2014 by Fatebreaker
Jo and the Bush all/any Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 I found my self in Powell's Today, and found the book. The rest of the Episode just get's better and better. Jak claims invisibility at one point, according to the footnote.
