“Is there anything else we can do to help you?”

“I don’t think so. Listening helps, and you’ve done a good job of that.”

By now, Jenny had managed to fully get ahold of herself again. The emotions had passed, for now. She breathed a sigh of relief upon realizing this.

“Well I’m always here to listen.” She sighed…was she not telling him something?

Jenny sat up, managing to hide the grimace that movement would have elicited. She kept an arm wrapped around Ed.

”Thank you, again.”

Does your character have any useful info they could use like where to find transportation (they’re looking for a train right now) or monsters that might be trailing them?

He's basically just been following them the whole way, so I don't know that he would.

To be honest, the only way Jenny’s going to trust him at this point is if he tells them why he’s there. I’m not sure about the other characters, but I’d imagine no one’s going to let a rando into their camp without knowing why he’s there/what he wants. If your character won’t give the real reason, maybe he can make up a believable lie if he’s good at lying? After a certain point, if the characters don’t trust each other enough meaningful interaction might just not be feasible.

I’m honestly not sure how to go from here. Is it ok if I ask out of character what your character’s motivations are?

I legit don’t think interaction is going to be possible unless Terrance tells them he wants to help with the quest. Maybe you could have him briefly go against his fatal flaw then explore the internal consequences of that? Anyone else have any ideas? (Tagging everyone who’s at camp right now)

“Yep.”

She looked into Ed’s eyes, then decided to change her answer.

”Definitely.”

“It is.”

Jenny shifted so that she had both hands free, but was still against Ed. She pulled her hair over her shoulder and started trying to braid it. It wasn’t a particularly good braid, on account of her lack of experience.

Edgar watched her. It was interesting, seeing her braid her hair. He wondered why she was doing it right now. Did she need it braided for something?

Terrance sat in the forest for a while longer. I can't keep hiding like this, can I? He shivered.

Sighing, he stood up and walked out of the forest, letting himself be seen.

Jenny finished the braid and used one of the many hairbands on her wrist to messily tie it off.

”How’s it look? Be honest.”

It’s pretty bad.

Is this in the same spot he was seen before?

Yes, except this time without the weird effect of noticing him. He just walked out.

“It…well it’s not the best braid I’ve seen,” he said, hoping she really did want him to be honest. “But I don’t think it, or anything else, could look bad on you.”

Jenny nodded. That was about what she’d thought it was. She was glad Ed was willing to answer her question directly and honestly.

”I’ll have to practice more, then.”

At least there was a new activity to fill her time while she was injured. She unraveled her braid and began to redo it.

Alrighty.

Having moved out of ear and eye shot of the rest of the group, Jenny didn’t immediately notice the stranger’s return. She was also rather focused on her braiding.

“Maybe. Or you could always leave it down…give Roy a scare.” He chuckled.

Jenny laughed.

”I don’t know why he wasn’t scared when I let it down today. I’ll have to try it some more.”

She thought briefly.

”I can’t let him get used to it, though. I’ll save it for when I really wanna mess with him.”
