"Ooh good idea, Terrance?, lets bet with something" Aaron says wide eyed.

"I have three nickels and a stick of gum."

"Why do you play, then? That's usually why people play card games, I think."

"To have fun, and build or break relationships!"

Jenny held up a death flower.

”I have some death flowers! I can’t remember if I’ve played Uno before, though. It’s not exactly fun to play by yourself.”

She laughed awkwardly.

Jenny nodded happily. She hadn’t gotten to play a card game with someone since she’d first been alone. She dug out a few more flowers, quite pleased with her decision to bring them along. They’d come in handy more times than she had expected.

“You can.”

Jenny spoke firmly, but didn’t elaborate much more. She’d probably just manage to accidentally make Ed feel worse if she did. She was glad that Terrance and Elsie had moved on from the subject of death. Previously she wouldn’t have minded it and probably would’ve enjoyed it, but now that she had met Ed her view of it had changed. She still respected it, understood how vital it was to life, but she had also become scared of it.

He shrugged. He wasn’t a hero. People like him, normal people, went to asphodel. “Thanks,” he said halfheartedly.

“Can I play too? I can shuffle.”

"Yeah!" She said. "...You wouldn't happen to know how to shuffle, would you?"
