Kerst looked around at all the ready nobles. He gritted his teeth, then backed toward the shadows at the corners of the room. He would need to let this play out. He hated fighting someone before observing their combat style.

Rezyn nudged Silas with her foot, nodding at him. They could take him, she was sure.

The assassin's words gave her pause. His tone was off. He didn't say the words like a normal person might.

His grin moves to a smirk, then he turns, drops his sword, then reforms a long, serrated blade.
