Awesome! I have not been following all the hype for this series but I really enjoyed the first one.

Wow, that's pretty awesome! I've seen pretty much every episod of Avatar, and still I wonder where Zuko's mother went. How good is it? Does it have any Alloy of Law-like tie ins with the first series?

So good! I told myself I wasn't going to ship anyone this time, (my poor Zutara feels are still hurting) but I can't help it! Mako and Korra! They're like Zutara 2.0. But better. And more awesome.

All aboard the S.S. Makorra!

Meelo? Yes, he's a riot.

New series wins so far imho, the only things I'm upset about are:

Sokka is not a crazy old grandfather/uncle figure.

Toph is also apparently gone. She was the youngest of the group!! (And my favorite >.>)

I totally thought the crazy bush dude was Sokka.

I was pleasantly surprised to see Katara. I had the impression from some public statements last year that none of the original cast would be involved. I suspect that she'll have very little actual screen time. Her involvement seemed to be a pass-the-torch kind of thing.

Other then that I thought the first two episodes did a good job of introducing characters and setting the stage. I'm kind of hoping the'll get into a little more detail about the nature of this republic. How exactly does that work?

Oh...A quick search over at the Avatar wiki pretty much described it.

@Link- Yes :D

@Arondell- I was glad to see Katara as well! What I'm really hoping to see (and I think it will happen) is Korra meeting Aang in the spirit world.

Yeah, so nick.com tricked me into thinking the new episode was out. I didn't understand why it kept ending after a minute and a half. Turns out it was just a clip :( So now I'm watching every Avatar ever on Netflix.

Okay, I was digging through the avatar fan site (avatarspirit.net) and read some of their shipping thread (401 pages! Oh man!), and found some fantastic fan-art.

I caught a bit of the hype surrounding this show and thought, what the hey, now was as good a time as any to see if the original was any good. That was last week. I have now watched the entire series, and what's been released of Korra besides. Hey, don't look at me like that. I'm graduated now. My evenings are my own. B)

I am definitely getting an Alloy of Law vibe from this show. Similar tech level, similar setting, similar concept of being set in the future of a world that has undergone a massively transformative event. I'm not a huge fan of Korra so far, and the threat/conflict is considerably weaker than in the first one. But the art is prettier and it's in HD, which does help some.

That said, I can't help feeling that the best episodes are yet to come. And I agree with Kuri, Taph was the very best part of the original series. I wish she had had a cameo or two. Her stuffy police chief of a daughter doesn't approach her awesomeness.

We haven't really had much of a chance to get to know Toph's daughter.(Lin Beifong) All we can really tell is that she seems negatively predisposed towards Korra. This suggests some past issues that haven't been revealed yet. As of the last episode I'm pretty sure Toph had a brief cameo in that past life flashback Korra had.

I suspect that if Korra could talk to her past lives she could probably figure out a lot of these problems. She doesn't seem to be in touch with the spiritual side of being the avatar though. Which is probably part of the issue she is having with air bending since that form is the one usually associated with spirituality.

I also get the impression that with the last episode all the primary stage pieces are now in place. Though I keep wondering if the cabbage guy will show up.

In 1972, a crack Food Quality Assurance unit was sent to prison by a Food and Safety Review Board for a crime they didn't commit. These men promptly escaped from a maximum-security stockade to the Republic City underground. Today, still wanted by the government, they survive as hawkers of leafy green vegetables. If you need a cabbage...if no one else can help...and if you can find them...maybe you can hire...The C-Team.

My favorite theory about Lin Beifong?

Well you know how Pema (Tenzin's wife) mentions how he was with someone else for a long time before she said she loved him? Lin's about the right age to be dating Tenzin. And it might account for some of the tension that's there in the first episode. (Though maybe it's just me.)
