Anniversary Game 10/Anonymous Game 14: Tyrian Falls Apocalypse

Recommended Posts

Oh, I thought I had given these but apparently not, @ ostrich: Penguin Meerkat Lion, but Scorpion is a close fourth. With the caveat that I should be re-evaluating my reads after three consecutive village exes (as should everyone) and have been asked about Scorp in PMs, so I will be looking into them later; Scorp was admittedly one of my first strong village reads purely off approach early-game. I feel pretty good about the first two in any case.

i should just go full omgus mode and only suspect people who thought i was scum early game. which off memory is probably like..... chameleon/scorpion/elephant/alb

that could be a team (no it couldnt). i think i might go back to feeling self centred so whatever. i think albatross is best kill for wv? (not west virginia).

edit: chameleon/scorpion dont work together so that cant work out. i kinda wanna say theres 1 in cham/scorp/lion in total (ie if you find it, the others are cleared). i have reasoning for the lion that wouldnt make sense if i put it to words though.

i actually- okay uhm. this is kind of lame but scorpion has not rlly unpaired with anybody afaik which is honestly a bit of a red flag with how much theyve been active itg. especially when the people i have marked as unpaired are generally v!reads of mine anyways.

i dunno maybe im overlooking someone like flamingo again and id love to put that sort of stuff in, but yk what. why not. but i dont care right now.

I think for me, top 3 reads are Beagle, Scorpion, Lion, with Ostrich as a close-ish fourth. Still don’t have a solid opinion on Meerkat or many others. Neutral on Cham. Suspicious of Iguana and Albatross.

Also not certain how Village Reads play out in theory versus Trusts in practice. The players I fully Trust are very few. But maybe that’s just me.

Something I do want to toss out there - an E!Soother could have pretty easily decided to mess with a V!Vulture exe just for the chaos of it, which is potentially a reason to go for Iguana over Vulture. Or we could just knock out Vulture.

Boo why

edit: im in my omgus mode so im gonna call you outed mafia and go on

edit: *mood, not mode

edit: if you could emphasis your e!read on alb as well i'd probably be the most helpful to see tbh

Voting everyone except Vulture in an exe where Vote Manip saved Vulture.

If I had a nickel…

I do want to re-check Scorpion, because I don’t know how much I can put into words why I trust them. But that can wait until after I’m done with current things.

how does that mean anything? i regardless touted a v read on vulture and didnt overly want them to go over. i dont get that as a basis for a scumread of me when you could just find a read off my content.

and boo, if i had a nickel id. uhm. idk eat it. theres not smthing funny i can say to this actually.

what is it that youre working on rn? and walk me through the alb stuff as well.

Well, right now I’m working on a doctor appointment, so big reviews of content have to wait :P

From my memory of EoD, your vote changed the most. Normally that would disrupt vote manipulation attempts somewhat. Except the vote manipulation took votes away from Vulture, and you never voted for Vulture. Therefore a team with E!you has a better picture of how much they need to commit to mess with the exe or save E!Vulture than one without it.

Or, in other words: a (likely Elim) Soother worked to save Vulture. You worked to save Vulture. Put two and two together and E!Iguana follows.

Still probably want to flip Vulture first, given the choice. But not entirely sure.

Alb is mostly gut + the fact they’ve essentially never committed to much. Plus I pushed them into exe contention and suddenly they were viewing the thread.

im not sure i follow, but bottom just looks like you want an excuse to flip me regardless of what Vulture flips. Because when vulture flips v, i'm "obviously an elim who wanted to promote vulture as a fall guy", and if they flip w, then im an elim who tried to save a teammate. which... im coming again to say, do you really suspect vulture and I as players, or what. because im not going to take that as your excuse to push me.

I guess more, I want to keep my options open. Vulture vs Heron was definitely a more thread-contested (or vote maniped) exe than Hyena vs Meerkat (and Iguana? I forget) or Dragonfly vs Penguin. If Vulture flips V, then you’re less likely to be Elim unless you actually are the Soother, or knew that the Soothing was locked in. And with that level of tinfoil, I’d probably go after Albatross or Meerkat or someone, or find a stronger player read. Haven’t found one of those in a bit.

I suppose I can ask - what’s your opinion on the Soothing? Elim or Villager?

Coinshot shoot vulture

…Why? To both. Rolescanner is nowhere near powerful enough to swing the distro on its own and there’s no evidence the vulture kill wasn’t a MB, which makes sense especially with a lack of extra C1 kill.

Personally I'd rather we exe Vulture later. My preferable nightshot would be between Alb, Zebra, or Kangaroo for one reason or another. Probably in that priority order

To be clear, Kanga keeping their vote on Albatross means they are very likely unpaired. Penguin is also unpaired with Albatross. So if Alb flips red tonight, that could net us some tasty soft clears.

My new tunnel is Zebra atm, mostly because they were the first vote of C3 (on Heron) and never once moved it (individual vote stability is rand!e) and they pushed for village consensus on Heron specifically when there were other options (like Vulture, Chameleon, and Kanga, the last of which Zebra has sussed at least once but yet to follow through). Possible E/E distancing, that.

Rolescanner is a powerful tool.

Zebra knew of the gambit and probably wouldn't have voted on me. If it helps, Zebra was against any sort of Gambit c3 in our PM, and scorp agreed with them.

Sure, but I don’t think it’s that good. An e!Thug would make a 5p team.

What PM are you referencing? Pretty sure I don’t have one with you and Zebra both.

Quick and dirty Mouse NKA

Vulture, Scorpion, Penguin, Swan, Tuatara, Ostrich, Albatross, Crocodile, Flamingo, Lion, Beagle, Chameleon, Zebra, Iguana, Kangaroo, Meerkat, Elephant

Taking out the more chronic inactives:

Vulture, Scorpion, Penguin, Swan, Ostrich, Albatross, Crocodile*, Flamingo, Lion, Beagle, Chameleon, Zebra, Iguana, Kangaroo, Meerkat

And taking out players who, IMO, wouldn't commit to a Mouse kill on only N2:

Vulture, Scorpion, Swan, Ostrich, Albatross, Crocodile*, Flamingo, Lion, Chameleon, Zebra, Iguana, Kangaroo

Honestly, could be pretty much anyone in that category up there. But one more thing possible. Taking out players who are in Mouse's Tier 1-2 V!reads from the last PM readslist:

Vulture, Swan, Crocodile*, Lion, Chameleon, Zebra, Kangaroo

The five bold (and Heron) were directly mentioned by Mouse as lower (but not directly Elim) reads. Lion and Zebra weren't, but there was an anendum that that leaned towards more an inactive / lower read. Idk, my skills at Mouse identification are lower.

Croc is arguably inactive but has actually been signing on a decent amount. Perhaps active in PMs. Idk.

Day 4: Shoot One Get One Free

Sidor’ leaned back in her chair and sighed, absently petting the flesh-covered stone tail that lay across her lap. Financial work had become much more difficult since Ruin’s attention forced to take all her notes in metal. The non-soundproofed additional rooms that had been built adjacent to hers in the wake of Tyrian Falls’ growth from a village to a town only made things worse. One of Linaan’s eyestalks glanced over while her main eyes didn’t look up from the intelligence reports she was reading.

“Don’t look,” Sidor chided, flicking the stalk away. “Secret financial business.”

“You’ll have to teach me finance sometime,” Linaan began a familiar argument, stretching out her stone-skeleton four-legged form on the mattress “even if I can’t guarantee you immortality through me anymore what with Ruin ending the world.”

“I no longer believe you’ll kill us once you think you can imitate us perfectly, but you’re not the Finance councilor. You don’t represent my constituency.” “Not that they’ll want us to represent them after this,” Sidor’ added.

“Oh?” Linaan inquired, pointing a second stalk-eye in Sidor’s direction.

“Not your right to know,” Sidor repeated. She removed the heavy tail from her lap, careful to avoid cutting herself with the bladed tip, before standing up and grabbing one of Linaan’s tendril arms. “You may escort me to our meeting place. If any merchants or soon-to-be-former business owners decide their profits or ownership are more important than the town, you’ll hear about it right after I tell them Cel and Thur’s people have already voted to replace them.”

Both members of Courier Team M hated their new jobs. Thur was reluctant to fund research that had no military potential and wasn’t related to food production, and the recent crisis had seen the pair pressed into Linaan’s service as messengers, running deliveries all night with their ability to see through the mists. The steel tablets were so  heavy when stacked up and forced to run with them, that they needed to work as a pair for more than just safety.

Tonight, they’d been so busy rushing back and forth between Sidor, Cel, and Thur that it was a great relief when they reached their final message, this one from an unknown sender. Unusual, but quickly becoming less so. The two trudged towards their destination at the edge of town, wearily leaning against each other for support as they squeezed through a narrow alley. They were halfway through when they heard the sound of loud footfalls behind them. Looking back, they saw a shadowy figure barreling towards them at speeds no human could match unaided.

“Stop!” the orator cried, but his voice couldn’t save him this time. M didn’t have time to dodge or even separate before the onrusher collided with them and kept running, pulverizing M’s bodies in their wake.

Five minutes later, a cloaked figure soared through the night on lines of steel, pausing when they sensed a rectangular piece of metal on the ground. They looked down to see the mangled bodies of Courier Team M, so mixed together it was impossible to tell which was which. Curious, they dropped down into the alley, and searched their corpses until they found the metallic item that had alerted them, M’s final, undelivered message, addressed to Cream Tuatara.

By torchlight, the discoverer read, “We’re worried about you. Why haven’t you responded to our messages? I’m dropping by your home tonight.”

Pocketing the message and touching the bodies just enough to confirm their demise was recent, the thief took off again, heading towards Cream Tuatara’s place. Either the sender or M’s killer might be there, and either way a Spiked might be present.

The steelburner arrived just in time to see a familiar woman knocking furiously on Tuatara’s door. “Cream? Cream!” she was hissing furiously. “Are you in there? Open up.” She tried the door handle, kicking it down with pewter-enhanced strength upon finding it locked.

Her tracker followed her close behind, waiting until they could hear Sasha talking to a sick Cream in their bed. “You’re sick? Why didn’t Ruin tell us? I’ll carry you, it’s not safe here. I’ve been followed.”

The mention of Ruin sealed both of their fates. With their patron’s warning, Sasha whirled around, Cream in her arms, but she was too late. A barrage of coins was sent her way, far too many to dodge. Cream was ripped to shreds instantly. Burning pewter, Sasha withstood the salvo of coins, bleeding profusely from dozens of wounds as darted through the door, seeking the safety of the night. As she ran, her message was returned to sender at lethal speeds, dropping her into the mists. Satisfied, the killer flew away, leaving the bodies where they lay.
