Her eyes were still closed, and now peacefully.

Delphi smiled, just slightly. She kept her hand on Sunny, keeping her magic going as Sunny rested. With her other hand she fortified the doors, sealing them from her brother. In the deep areas of her mind, the power of the Oracle stirred.

Not now. Please, not now.

Sunny fell asleep.

Sunny fell asleep.

There was a soft thud outside.

The edges of Delphi's vision started filling with green clouds.

Not now. Please.

The clouds spread, covering her entire vision, and she fell into a vision.

The world was burning in emerald green flames. Sand whipped across her skin, leaving it raw and sore. She heard screaming, and saw green lighting flash in the sky. Bones littered the ground.

Flash.

She stood in the middle of a sandstorm. A hundred feet off she could see a short silhouette, like that of a child. His eyes glowed as people fell around him.

Flash.

She was closer now, and she could see corpses, brutally deformed by the sand, lying at the feet of the boy. Some she recognized. Aventine. Pic. Sunny. Gemini. Bile rose in the back of her throat. She looked up, but still couldn't place the person.

Flash.

The person's back is to her. He stands on a pile of burned bodies, reveling in the destruction, enjoying it. Delphi walks around him to see his face, expecting to see the boy, the one who took in a spirit.

When she sees Lukas's face, she screams in horror. He grins, a terrifying smile, then stabs her in the chest.

She sits upright in her chair, in a cold sweat, breathing heavily. Her hand still rests on Sunny, drawing away pain.

---

In Aventine's room, Lukas wakes up. "M-m-mom, are you h-h-h-h-here?" He says softly, squinting in the light.

She turned from Lundyn, walked over to the bed, and took his hand. “I’m here.”

“Well, my friend had to manipulate time to get him here.”

"G-g-good job your f-f-friend."

---

The boy left his room. He couldn't see Sunny. Who cared. She would probably die anyway.

He walked down the hallway to Aventine's room, and knocked on her door.

---

A nurse walked in, and Delphi jumped.

"This woman was hurt. I just brought her down here to rest and recover. We'll be out in a few hours, tops, I promise." She said quietly, trying not to wake Sunny.

She turned at the knock. “Stay here, okay?”

She went to the door, leaving it closed, and said, “Hello?”

Softly, almost scaredly, she asked, “Why are you here?”

You are here to apologize, and to visit your brothersss... A voice whispers in the back of his mind.

"I-" He looks down. "I'm here to apologize. And visit my brothers."

“That’s… appreciated. Truly. But both of them are trying to sleep now.”

“He woke up a bit ago. Though, I said he was trying to sleep, not that he was sleeping.”

"Okay. Um... can we talk?"

No. You cannot. Stop, idiot mortal.

"I mean... uh... never mind."

The last few words sounded forced, reluctant.

”No, it’s fine, is everything okay?”

No. Stop. Leave.

"-us-" The boy managed to grunt, wincing.

STOP FOOLISH MORTAL.

She cracked the door and saw the pained expression on his face. Her eyebrows twisted into a look of worry, and she knelt in front of him and held his hand.

He involuntarily jerked his hand back.

"-made-mistake-" He manages painfully.

KILL HER. LEAVE. KILL HER.

KILL

”-gotta-remove-magic-“ he hunches over in pain, then stands up again.

”You will have to die now, I’m afraid.” He says, drawing a dagger.
