Rue snorted and looked up at the not-so-blue sky. “I mean nothing,” she said. “I am but a thread to be woven into the pattern. The wheel weaves as the wheel wills, oh, light but it does. Whatever you do for me…it doesn't matter. The pattern wouldn’t weave around us. Devoting yourself to a person…that’s a sure way to get hurt.”
