"Oh- hey." Elan says, surprised.

"I dunno I thought maybe that'd mean something. My world doesn't have a Japan. I... can't really give you a good reason. And you have a complete right to doubt. But I really am here to help."

She narrowed her eyes.

Yeah . . . she didn't think he had any ill intentions.

She did the same thing to her clothing and hair that she'd done to the armchair, feeling much cleaner.

"Right?" Aora grinned.

Suddenly giddy, she ran around the room and did it to a few more pieces of furniture, until dust filled the air.

A rather unfortunate amount of it.

She coughed and covered her mouth.

"Maybe that wasn't the best idea . . ."

". . . I guess it'll settle down again eventually."

She coughed again and walked over to the window, looking out.

"Kind of sobering," he said softly, stepping up beside her. "It looks abandoned, you know? But kind of in a beautiful way."

“I was so worried about you.”

She shrugged. "I guess it is."

"So . . . this is a real place? As it is now? If someone lives here and they walked into their attic, would we see them?"

He shook his head. "Maybe a shadow of them. But I doubt anyone lives here. You wanna explore a little more?"

She shrugged. "Sure."

She kinda liked this room, though.

She might come back to it.

He moved to the door and pushed it open for her.

She nodded to him gratefully and exited the room.

"Your turn to pick," she told him.

“Right.” He frowned, looked around, and walked down the hallway a bit to a blue door. “This one looks okay.”
