Tis a good book.

Pic nodded. "Sounds like a book you would like," he hummed happily.

Her eyebrows furrowed. She added age and known relatives.

That… that doesn’t make sense.

Wasn’t he 7? Or did he get sent back in time somehow…

…how will I explain this to his brother?

The soldier looks over her shoulder. "Ah. Too bad. Well... don't go around using the Kronos Apparatus to try and save him. Breaking the time stream is almost as bad a crime as impersonating a soldier!" He laughs. "Anyway, I guess you need to go back now?"

“Remind me what that was?”

"The time machine!" The soldier said happily. He had a hint of worry in his eyes, just for a second.

They turned around to head back, and soon reached the portal, preparing it to send her through.

"Hey, uh..." The soldier that had talked to her blushed, "I was wondering if I could get your number, and we could like... go get coffee or something sometime?"

“Yeah, sure!” He’s got a crush. She scribbled her number on a sheet of paper, handed it over, and stuck out her hand to shake.

He smiled, taking the paper, and shook her hand. "It was nice meeting you." he said. Then they sent her though the portal.

WHAT?! I can't decide it I'm mad or if that's a good thing...

As soon as her hand made contact with his, he passed out. She turned invisible and began to sprint through the facility looking for the Kronos Apparatus.

They’re called Gathering Blue, Messenger, and Son

And my initial reaction was quite similar lol

The soldiers in the room deactivated the portal, seeming to think they'd sent her away.

Soon enough she found a map. Apparently this was a large, underground complex, secret from the world above. The apparatus was shown on the very bottom level with a label reading: "HIGHLY DANGEROUS. HIGHEST RANKING OFFICERS ONLY."

In her mind, she quoted the Lion King. Danger? I laugh in the face of danger. Mwah ha ha!

She snapped a picture on her phone and made her way to it.

Didn't know you could nap pictures

Nice quote

There was a large round steel door, maybe twenty meters tall, leading into the room. Next to it, minuscule in comparison, was a small retinal scanner, likely to ensure only authorized personnel entered.

Shush

Ya know how in some movies people shoot panels to open doors?

She stuck her hand out and it exploded.

The doors opened.

Why someone designed it to do that when the scanner exploded, no one would ever know.

Also, alarms began blaring throughout the facility.

Why someone designed it to do that when the scanner exploded, everyone knew.

I expected the alarm sooner. She used the device to figure out the exact moment and location the boy went to that world and offset it by a few yards.

The screen connected to the device beeped softly.

The device itself was massive, tubes and pipes and wiring running in and out and along its surface. At the very base was a metal door with one of those twisty knobs they have on submarines.

Kronos Apparatus will activate in T-Minus 5 seconds. The screen announced.

She looked over her shoulder to make sure no one was near.

No one was, though loud, stomping footsteps could be heard coming towards her.

T-Minus 4 seconds.

Being just a tad oblivous to the reaction, Pic went on. "You're always making sure others are safe, giving them a chance to heal. The title fits." Pic then turned and looked at Aventine as he led her down the courtyard path. "You want to go again, or is it my turn?"
