In his panic, he began to hum the first few notes of Aventine’s song. To him, they felt like safety. They felt like home. Each root chord was solid, and each dominant hopeful. Soon, he closed his eyes and fell into a trace. He didn’t know for how long he was there, or how loud he sang. Only that it provided peace.
