Pic remains silent, pondering how this can even be possible for any being.

He can, but he won't.

I do not intend harm. He is there, as always, to observe.

Why do you fear?

She was able to determine that the voice was in her mind. Not fear. More… worry. I’ve had my share of malevolent forces for the time being, and I don’t know whether whomever it may concern falls into that category. That’s all.

I am not malevolent. Not in the way you imagine it.

Oh?

Pic hums along with the new voice's tones. Strangely, his harmonies always came out sounding like a herald's trumpet, rather than the discordant harmonies he expected to make for one who takes away voices.

“Hey elan you ok? Why has this feeling come back?”

Chunks of stone crumble off his body, falling to the ground and turning to dust, leaving his flesh and blood form standing there. "Huh?"

"Oh I'm fine." Elan said. "Just... a boring meeting. They really should start using Zoom. The quality is so bad the way we do it now."

I didn't think he could really harmonize with it properly, could he? Not when part of his thing is silence. So maybe... it kind of just causes the melody to conclude?

"Not this meeting. A council meeting. Something about parasites and multiversal destruction. Really boring everyday stuff." Elan said. "Anyway, what are we talking about now?"

If he percives a sound, he can harmonize with what he hears. If the voice isn't actually vocal, nothing is gonna happen.

In short he is just nervous coping.

Sort I edited it a second after. I fight maybe an attempt to harmonize with it might just cause the melody to stop, I guess? That would fit who we're dealing with.

Maybe his voice is just impossible to harmonize with for Pic? Nothing works

However, his harmonies always came to a conclusion faster than anticipated. The voice spoke in only endings. He never opened a song, never began a cadence, just closed out the final chord. Some of Pic's fear was replaced with confusion, enough to make a primary feeling curiosity.

"You don't take away voices," he mutters, just loud enough for him Aventine, and Ash to hear, "You simply make them conclude. You leave them with no other option."

Silence and stillness are also part of my nature, which is why you notice those effects when my agent is nearby. The voice sounded... tired.

Pic nodded and replied, "I'll be," he shivered, "quieter, then." He then mimicked the tiredness of the voice by slumping his shoulders and sighing in a similar fashion to the voice.

Following that, he immediately broke his promises to be quieter by doing percussion, a neutral sound to beginnings and endings. It merely persisted as an undertone and an omen of things to come. Sometimes it began, sometimes it ended. It was the best Pic could do in this scenario.

Pic felt the percussion shift, moving to the familiar pace and timbre of a resting heartbeat. A few moments later and with shocking suddenness, the pace ramped up, and then the beat cut out entirely.
