The lake around Mike disappeared and he found himself in the inn once more.

Great. Now I'm going insane as well.

He wandered over to a table in the corner and sat down. He considered getting a beer but knew that wouldn't help anything. Plus, he couldn't get drunk anyways. 

He leaned his head against the table and tried his best not to cry as he began to panic.

He wrapped his arms around her, and melted into her embrace. "Your welcome, love." He was tentative about the term of endearment, but for some reason it just felt right, like a glove that fits perfectly.

Wren gave her a long look, then turned to Thorn. “Protect these two,” he said, then floated to the ground as he forced her magic to stop affecting him. “Why do you care so much about them?” He asked Aster.

Vena seemed momentarily surprised, and pulled away. The conflict in her eyes had returned. She felt worry and doubt consume her. "Are-are you sure? What if you're wrong about me? What if you just have leftover feelings and after a while you realize that I'm not deserving of... you?"
