Hoid's Worldhopping

So we know that Hoid hops around the different worlds like all the time. And he seems to, to varying extents, put himself in the middle of the action, albeit usually briefly. So my question is...

Do you think the Shards can detect Hoid? Wouldn't it be weird for the Shards to see some dude hopping around entering their territory, do random stuff and leave? I feel that could seriously piss some of the Shards off (like Odium or Ruin before he died) seeing it as some sort of interference and maybe even attack him. So i'm thinking maybe he has a way of hiding himself from a Shard's notice.

I got the idea from reading a recent thread on Hoid

But, if I follow my logic here, members of the Seventeenth Shard would also have a way of hiding their presence since they can hop around too.

I suspect a large part of Hoids cover is the sheer mass of humanity, assuming the amount of power needed to world hop is not overly large maybe the shards only notice him if he makes himself known, or they're directly observing his landing point as he lands which is incredibly unlikely, and once hes there he doesnt really stand out that much from any other person until the shard takes a closer look, which it has no reason to. Another possibility/factor is that maybe the Seventeenth shard members bumbling around muddy the waters as well/further.

Alternately its possible that World Hoppers are more common than we've seen so far, and that some worlds in the cosmere (say, where Hoid is from) are more cosmere aware and have numerous people capable of world hopping and that Hoid popping in and out of worlds is not unheard of for the Shards. (I dont think this is likely, but its a possibility)

Well we know that Hoid is adept at "manipulating Shadesmar" so he likely travels with that ability, whether it's lightweaving that lets him do it or another of the magic systems. We see Shallan and Jasnah moving back and forth between Shadesmar without any seeming Shardic notice, so if Hoid is using the same method to travel, it's likely that the Shards pay as much attention to him coming and going via Shadesmar as they do with any other Surgebinder moving between the two.

Though with the general lack of Soulcasting going on at that point in Roshar's history, it wouldn't be that difficult to notice perhaps?

just some additional thoughts on this subject...

I seem to recall Brandon saying somewhere that Shards can detect worldhoppers but only if they are actively looking for them. Maybe I'm just imagining things, I've been known to do that, and even if I'm right I don't recall if he said if they could detect worldhoppers, the act of worldhopping, or both.

No, the quote rings a bell. I believe it was a question about Ruin's response to Hoid being there. It's an obscure quote, and I don't think it's part of the Brandonothology. It might be, but I think it was a "I asked Brandon at the signing, and he said:"
