[I swear allera does this to everyone. when they first meet.]

"They can't track anything if they can't receive signals through space, so that shouldn't matter if we can block that light from escaping. I guess it could be better just to make it entirely invisible, since they could probably still see us otherwise. And then they'd have to wonder why there's a ship emitting no signals. That might be doable."

Variance caught the motion. "What's wrong?" he asked, picking up on something he didn't quite understand.

The tech stuff all went over Allera’s head. They’d never been savvy with that kind of thing.

Allera didn’t respond to Variance, pretending not to have heard him.

"No, silly. Heat signals. Its gonna be quite obvious something's there if theres a random patch of heat in the middle of nowhere. And Allera is just salty that we're teaming up with an ancient eldritch necro."

"...Heat signals are infrared light."

"Allera, if you have an objection, you can voice it. This is your ship."

"I can mask our heat signitures inside the big beorin ship, but not elsewhere in space. So I hope your theory works."

"What do you mean? If there is not light coming from this ship, it cannot possibly be read as a warm object across the vacuum of space."

"There is still a slight chance that they might detect us. I doubt our friend Shim here can manipulate all of the electromagnetic spectrum, otherwise he could destroy everyone with gamma rays or something."

"That's why I said I could probably just make the ship invisible on all spectrums. It would be difficult, but I think I could manage it. Anyway, the point here isn't to get a surefire plan. We already know that there will be a good chance of getting detected somehow during this whole operation. I'm just trying to do what I can."

"The plan accounts for being detected in the first place. Even if we can disguise ourselves they'll notice a ship going missing, and unless we can disguise every signal including the light emitted from the ship itself, then they'll be able to find us."

Ayia took a little step closer to Allera. Hopefully that would help her feel a tad more comfortable.

"I'm afraid we're gonna have to abandon this ship for now though."

"I can probably destroy it if you'd like, to remove any evidence."

"Don't worry. Now can you kill shim?"

"That won't be necessary."

"blowing up the ship or killing shim?"

"No. It won't. And you don't get to decide if it does."

"So we just pretend like theyre never gonna notice a random, sensorless ship sitting in their garage?"

"By the time they find it, we'll be long gone. They can't trace it to anywhere but here."

"Hm? Biometrics? heard of those? And variance don't stab me with the knife. Stab shim."

"He can stab who he damn well pleases. We're not blowing up Allera's ship, and we're not going to try to kill Shim while we're here. We can worry about him - and you, if we have to - once we get through the portal." Ayia reached to pull the energy rifle off her shoulder, handing it to Allera. "Here. I take it you know how to shoot these things?"

"lf you fire that thing once while we're on board, they'll know. So don't use it unless absolutely nessecary. Ayia. Variance, please, calm down. I won't destroy the ship. And can we please get moving? People are gonna start wondering where the person you impersonated is. So can we please just leave before we all get killed?"
