Aaaaaaaand there he went again with that 'prescience' crap. Ayia crossed her arms. "Airlock?"

[You guys better go somewhere then. Otherwise we're gonna hear more 'persistance crap']

Strohger sighed and sat down. "No. Just go somewhere."

"Where will I end up if I shut up? Some random street in the middle of nowhere as a beaten corpse? Some random empty space between planets? Look. I know your type. I've met people like you, I've seen what they've done, and I see what they do to the world. And I can see straight through you. You don't want to be like them. You don't want to be the known criminal who is just known for killing people for no reason."

“I can’t speak for Ayia here, but I’ve never killed someone for no reason. You can be righteous and upstanding because society has given you the resources you need to be righteous and upstanding. Meanwhile, the ‘common criminals’ you look down on must resort to theft and violence just to stay one step ahead of starving to death on the streets.”

'prescience' I believe meaning knowing something before it happens

Variance spoke only to Ayia and Allera. "If we really need to, I can use the Perception dagger to make him effectively gone for a while without killing him. If we need to have some privacy or not let him see where we're going or something."

"I've never killed someone for no reason either. And I think you don't even understand me. You say I've never had to fight for anything before. Yet you barely even know me. Do you want to even know what I've been through? I have been in jail before. And you haven't. Unlike you I actually want to improve. Why don't you?"

Allera stared at him, aghast.

”Variance,” they whispered, “how long can you do that thing for?”

"I'd say it can probably last for... about an hour, if I push it. If I didn't supplement it at all, maybe 15 minutes or so."

"I've been in jail." Ayia raised her hand. "A few times. Variance, you should do the stabby shutty thing."

Variance sighed, then whipped out a dagger made of an impossibly black material, plunging it into Strohger's chest before he had time to react. The man immediately went limp.

In an instant, his senses were gone. All of them. He had no sight, no hearing, not even a sense of his own physical self. He just was, independent. He couldn't even be said to be floating, for he neither experienced gravity nor a lack thereof. There was nothing at all. It was extremely disconcerting, if not downright frightening.

"Make sure to drop out a little way's away..." Ayia instructed. "Don't wanna show up in the middle of whatever it is."

Which turned out to be a good call, because that place had no chill. Resurfacing from hyperspace even as far away as they did showed an absolutely massive armada of ships and stations. Probably... several hundred ships already, plus a few dozen destroyers. Ayia recognized them, which was... good? Kinda?

"Okayyy, so... good news and bad news."

Allera pressed the “scan” button on the ship’s control panel. Only a few of the ships on the viewer registered, a window popping up next to them on the viewer showing their make, model, and important specs. “…right. Alternate dimension.”
