“…Thank you.” Kerin looked down at Variance. “Oh dear. Let’s see.” They touched their claw to his forehead, and it passed through. “…Perception…” they mumbled, taking out two purple rocks from their kit and placing them to either side of Variance’s head.

Yeah I was thinking they were like next to him

Kerin took a canister filled with bright blue liquid from their bag, then daubed some of it on the rocks.

“This should help. It’ll imbue your friend with extra Perception, which, if I’m right, will make them tangible again.” The rocks and the space between them began to glow, illuminating Variance’s face in purple light.

Variance did not become tangible. However, he did blink. "What..."

"Wizards, hmm?" Jaster scratched his chin. "Do you know what type of curse they used? I've never heard of a spell that could turn a human into a beam of light before."

"It was a sealing spell, meant to eradicate me entirely. If I skip the week-long ritual and whatnot, the exact wording was 'Begone, vile one. Begone, and never again darken this plane with the shadow of your presence.'"

Kerin put their finger through Variance’s forehead. “Hm. Well, at least you’re awake.”

"Who are you?"

“I’m Kerin. A curse specialist. An… associate of Allera’s.

“Now that you’re awake, can you tell me about your curse? Any details you know that might be important.”

"Uh... Well, it's millions of years old and was originally created to try to keep me confined to a certain planet, but now that I've left is having other effects on me."

Kerin nodded. “This should be rather simple, then. Every day for the next month, you’ll need to sit between these stones for around twenty minutes. They should imbue you with enough Perception magic to last you through the day. Hopefully, you’ll become less dependent on it as time goes by, but without knowing more details of your curse, it’s hard to tell.

“After a month, if you still need them, come back here and we can figure out a more permanent solution.”

"Okay... Thank you."

"She didn't seem very keen on being seen." Ayia handed over the rest of the money.

"If you say so." Kerin shrugged.

@Szeth_Pancakes

"Are you going to be okay?"

I see.

"Tell Allera that if they ever need anything, I'm here." Kerin winked and walked out of the spaceship.

As soon as they were gone, Allera opened the hatch, taking a deep breath. "Five Gales. Okay. That's over."
