Edgedancer he/him Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Artist's rendering of Funtimes' new hairdo. Also from page 37. She wears a Nighthound themed haido? What are you foreshadowing. Other news, the dice are cast and we have a new addition that I feel rather sorry for. Edited August 16, 2014 by Edgedancer 1

Now I don't think that's such a good idea. 2

I assumed you would say this. I´m still pending on how exactly their relationship will develop but unless a miracle Nighthound hell-face turn does happen it is unlikely to be a good one. 1

Lucentia implying he tore her arm off is a pretty good indicator that relationships aren't his strong suit. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Oh it most definitely fits. * compulsively scurries to the Web to match songs to all current Epics * Aaaaand I'm terrible at song-matching. Most musicians don't specifically write their songs with Oregon Epics in mind. This was the best I could find for Möbius. In particular the chorus. 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 I like it. Kinda creepy, but it fits.

TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 It gets even creepier if you imagine it sung not by Möbius, but by Alexandra's mother indefinitely locked within a pocket universe. Actually, on second thought... Wait. Is…is that canon? Well, head canon, I guess, since she's not a character per se... But….is it real? Or was it just something you made up? Did I miss reading that in her profile?
Kobold King he/him Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 (edited) Her mother, her fellow college students, and her recent fiancee Josh disappeared shortly afterwards, as a new Epic named Möbius made headlines as the most powerful Epic to hit northern California. I didn't spell it out in so many terms, but as you can see, it's been implied canon since the beginning that Möbius did terrible things to people who were once close to her. So no. I didn't just make that up now, it's been part of her backstory since the beginning. Her mother commented negatively on her daughter's changed behavior, so she got to spend the rest of her life in a living room-centric universe. Some of her friends from college started shying away from her when they saw the coldness seeping through her personality, and she did variously unpleasant things to each of them (one of them got sent to Venus.) Finally, Josh figured out that she was an Epic and tried to appear to her inner humanity, a gesture which only infuriated her. His attempts made her deluded self feel even more betrayed and abandoned. She sealed Josh into a pocket universe within the sushi bar and left him for dead. However, her weakness was activated shortly afterwards, potentially allowing Josh to escape. If you recall, Möbius was planned to be my primary Epic character before I went with Lightwards instead. As a result, she has a substantial amount of backstory built up. Unpleasant backstory. Edited August 16, 2014 by Kobold King
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 16, 2014 Author Posted August 16, 2014 I caught the implication that she did away with her parents, but…call me naive, but I kind of assumed she killed them outright in a twisted act of "mercy" instead of trapping them in a pocket universe. Or killed them and hid the evidence in a pocket universe. Then again, the pocket universe fits her better. She just gets more and more pleasant, doesn't she? 1
Kobold King he/him Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Nathan and Funtimes cause Lightwards to pass out from sheer terror, claiming they've invited Möbius to "Funtimes' Funtastic Sushi Party of Fun, Fun, Fun." --Taken from "What Happened in Oregon," page 22. In all seriousness, Möbius is the most twisted character I've ever come up with. Blindside was a random nutcase with a fondness for knives. Lightwards is pretty much too delusional to be taken seriously. But Möbius... Möbius is the answer to a question I asked myself. "What happens if introverted tendencies, shyness, and a gentle desire to do good are twisted into something unrecognizable?" I hope that Möbius is a believable, terrifying answer to that question. A reclusive tyrant who isolates her lands, ensuring that her people rely on her 'kindness' for survival. A woman who usually abhors direct conflict, and will kill her adversaries in horrifying ways simply to avoid getting into a confrontation (Her killing of Lightwards was the exception that proves the rule.) 2

Page 22? You really think it'll take that long? Well, I suppose Funtimes will need a convincing excuse to go to California. It'll all just snowball from there, though. One glimpse of anything even remotely Japanese-inspired and it's sushi time! In all seriousness, Möbius is the most twisted character I've ever come up with. Blindside was a random nutcase with a fondness for knives. Lightwards is pretty much too delusional to be taken seriously. But Möbius... Möbius is the answer to a question I asked myself. A woman who usually abhors direct conflict, and will kill her adversaries in horrifying ways simply to avoid getting into a confrontation (Her killing of Lightwards was the exception that proves the rule.) You, um, certainly succeeded. She is extremely twisted and mind-numbingly terrifying. And twisted in a way that's not so over-the-top it's implausible. Given a sad backstory, a terrifying set of superpowers, and a voice in her head pushing her to do something a little worse, coupled with her own conflict-avoiding personality….yeah, I can see her being a realistic supervillain. Doctor Funtimes was my answer to two questions: 1. What kind of Epic would steal some random guy from a clairvoyant serial killer? 2. What kind of Epic would steal some random guy from a clairvoyant serial killer…and not kill said random guy OR said clairvoyant serial killer for kicks and giggles? As the evidence will attest, the answer to those questions was, "A really, really weird one." 2
Kobold King he/him Posted August 16, 2014 Posted August 16, 2014 Ultimately I think that a a really really weird Epic is more enjoyable to read about than a really really dark one. I allow Lightwards to have his share of darker scenes--an old man being ripped to shreds by raptors isn't exactly light and fluffy material. But Lightwards is balanced by the fact that he's a bit of an over-the-top villain, and of course he has Funtimes to play off of. Möbius would simply be a dark, oppressive, and above all overpowered addition to the RP. That said, if anybody ever tries to say "my character flees Oregon into northern California," my headcanon will be that Möbius gets him. 2

And by that, I mean "Holy cow, I'm glad this is made up because that would be terrifying to watch in real life." IRL, I think Lightwards would be a pretty terrifying villain, to the average Joe. But I'm glad I can provide Doctor Funtimes to balance that out. Yes. Mobius gets him and…um…bad things happen, you'll never see him again, let's all stop thinking these dark thoughts and eat cookies! 1
Kobold King he/him Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Yes. Mobius gets him and…um…bad things happen, you'll never see him again, let's all stop thinking these dark thoughts and eat cookies! Yes, let's all just forget about Mobius and have a cookie... Oh sparks. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 Yes, let's all just forget about Mobius and have a cookie... Oh sparks. O.o Kobold, what have you unleashed upon us???? 1
Voidus Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 So NH is bringing an energy Epic back with him? I sense some impending conflict with PP :SO.o Mobius-cookies!? You could eat them FOREVER!!!! 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 O.o Mobius-cookies!? You could eat them FOREVER!!!! And Voidus gives us the bright side!
Voidus Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 This would clearly be the best use for mobius' powers, making never ending cookies.XD 3
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 17, 2014 Author Posted August 17, 2014 This would clearly be the best use for mobius' powers, making never ending cookies. XD If only she used her powers for good, instead of evil. 1
Voidus Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I like to think that one day Funtimes met up with all of these Epics, brought them together and created the worlds most awesome theme park. 3
Matrim Bloody Cauthon he/him Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 I will probably be able to post every other night or so. Mailliw just post when i dont. I was also planning to maybe have Mason be a stronger epic than Psy-fi first thought, and have him reincarnate for one last fight. What do you guys think?
Edgedancer he/him Posted August 17, 2014 Posted August 17, 2014 Kobold, I understand that sentiment with Möbius, I mean just look at Nighthound for maximized creepy. O.oKobold, what have you unleashed upon us???? You think a Möbius cookie is bad? I will probably be able to post every other night or so. Mailliw just post when i dont. I was also planning to maybe have Mason be a stronger epic than Psy-fi first thought, and have him reincarnate for one last fight. What do you guys think? For me Mason fall kind of flat as is, so that sounds good for me. Something I wondered by the way, is Mason his Epic name, ´cause that sounds like a vanilla one. 1
