TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Even knowing that Funtimes was an Epic, and therefore a homicidal slontze, Sam couldn't help but crack a small and very un-gothlike smile at the woman's enthusiasm. Curse you, upvote quota. You prevent me from giving this line and its associated post its rightful due. Your power cannot last forever, O upvote quota….
Kobold King he/him Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Curse you, upvote quota. You prevent me from giving this line and its associated post its rightful due. Your power cannot last forever, O upvote quota…. I say we introduce a new Epic called Quota to Oregon. His power is creating a field around himself in which all positive feelings are suppressed. I changed Revolution's icon, and gave her a lame little rhyme that I made up off the top of my head. It's there mainly to hint that she has a bit of an interesting backstory that will be explored later on. 2

Kobold King he/him Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Does he wear a mask that looks like this? I for one enjoyed the hint. Of course. Photoshopped pictures of Grumpy Cat smiling are his weakness. You do have the advantage over the rest of RPers in knowing exactly what I'm hinting at. 1

Yes, I do. Which might be unfair, did you not have insider knowledge of what will happen after breakfast the next morning. (Although no one except for me can tell you what Doctor Funtimes will eat for the most important meal of the day. ) 1
Kobold King he/him Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 I'm going to guess it's not as simple as a banana muffin? Out of curiosity, would Funtimes trigger Steelheart's weakness?
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 30, 2014 Author Posted August 30, 2014 Ah…. You know, I really have no idea. Speculation in spoiler tags because spoilers are ahead. Is there a difference between not being afraid of someone, the way David's father wasn't afraid, and of being too cheery to bother being afraid? I think she might trigger it at first, if she could avoid pushing one of his many buttons. If she could charm him for a minute or two, she would see him as just another Epic who took himself way too seriously who was in desperate need of one of her pranks. If he tried to kill her, it might still hold, but if he nearly succeeded, then I doubt she would remain unafraid for long. So to answer your question: Maybe at first. She did call a human basilisk (who dropped a hint through his real name) Jeffrey. And she still calls him that to this day, so….she might, if being too silly to be afraid counts. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted August 30, 2014 Posted August 30, 2014 Yeah, she doesn't seem to have such a skewed view of reality that she believes herself to be invincible. It's hard to tell, because someone with her level of intelligence could easily put on a mask to cover her fear. Your assessment seems rational by my estimation. I do think that if Funtimes ever went on a frolicking reign of sunshine and pancakes through Newcago, Steelheart would ultimately try to kill her. He doesn't want the common people to start thinking some Epics are nice, after all. On that note, I wonder why Abraham's group with the Superman logo as a symbol haven't rallied around Funtimes yet. 2

True. If Steelheart did scare her, she would hide it until she realized that he wanted her to be afraid. And then she'd beat a hasty retreat, leaving naught but confetti in her wake. I agree that he would, but I don't know that he'd need to. Knowing Epics the way they do, the people of Newcago seem pretty used to the idea that any and all friendliness from Epics is an act. They'd probably assume the pancakes were poisoned, or that they'd explode on contact with stomach acid or something similar. The Faithful probably have a very strict vetting process for any Epics they accept as the fulfillment of their promise, and I don't know that they'd rally around someone as unstable as Funtimes. In a world like that, false hope is enough to destroy your faith entirely, and not all of Funtimes' actions are exactly heroic. Most of them just involved pranks on her fellow Epics. Nathan was the first human who ever agreed to tag along with her. Not only was his only alternative a slow and painful death, but he mostly went along with her because he assumed she was the more powerful Epic and didn't want to risk making her angry. That she actually saved his life was a very pleasant surprise. 2
Voidus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Now we're all singing? Boy is the rest of the forum going to get confused, there are waaaaay too many in-jokes in this thread
Kobold King he/him Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Now we're all singing? Boy is the rest of the forum going to get confused, there are waaaaay too many in-jokes in this thread Singing? Forgive me if this sounds really stupid, but who exactly is singing?
Voidus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Ah, sorry, overtired brain + skimming threads does not make for a good amount of clarity I meant the top of this page but I guess that layout was just a letter or something? :S
Voidus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Well Under the Funtimes act of the Empire of Light, section pancakes, I do believe we're now all obligated to sing 1

What you see here Aren't songs but haikus. 1
Kobold King he/him Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Are we about ready to shift to morning then? That is my understanding of the situation, yes. I think Altermind was going to retroactively write a scene that takes place at night, but he said we could transition to day without him.
Voidus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Alright, well then if there's no objections I'll do a morning scene for the P's 1
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 There are none from me O Voidus, feel free to write A scene in morning. 2
Voidus Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Team Penumbra now has a talking raccoon. You may now submit your respective surrenders 4
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 All right, I found an icon for Nathan: Remington: Scorch: I don't know that I'll use them in every post, but there they are. I didn't get one for Funtimes because I don't plan on writing from her perspective any time soon. I don't know if I could handle that. 2
Kobold King he/him Posted August 31, 2014 Posted August 31, 2014 Team Penumbra now has a talking raccoon. You may now submit your respective surrenders A talking raccoon? This is either the best or the worst thing to have happened yet. Who am I kidding? It's the best. All right, I found an icon for Nathan: Remington: Scorch: I don't know that I'll use them in every post, but there they are. I can imagine how difficult a Funtimes point of view would be. Writing from the perspective of undead raptors is probably waaaaaay easier. 2
TwiLyghtSansSparkles she/her Posted August 31, 2014 Author Posted August 31, 2014 (edited) A talking raccoon? This is either the best or the worst thing to have happened yet. Who am I kidding? And yeah, it would be extremely difficult. I tried to come up with a short passage where she chooses a breakfast cereal, but even that was too insane for me. It's much easier to write from the perspectives of her baffled sidekicks. I loved the scene from the raptor's POV, by the way. Edited August 31, 2014 by TwiLyghtSansSparkles 2
