Southpaw89 Posted November 14, 2011 Posted November 14, 2011 Who's on the cover of tWoK? I'm only 270 pages into the book so maybe I'll have a better idea later on but can someone just tell me? Is it Dalinar?
PeterAhlstrom he/him Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Yes, but his cape is the wrong color.
Southpaw89 Posted November 15, 2011 Author Posted November 15, 2011 ah ok. Yeah I thought so! Who would the person across from him be then?
CrazyRioter she/her Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 Probably the Parshendi Shardbearer.
Green Hoodie Mistborn he/him Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I assumed this was a scene from later in the books where Dalinar and another Shardbearer salute each other from different Plateau's... that you'll get to eventually
FeatherWriter she/her Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I'm pretty sure it's a dramatacized picture of when Dalinar and the Parshendi shardbearer salute each other. The armies have just been taken out to clean up the image. Though I must say, as epic as the storm and Shattered Plains look, I have never liked Dalinar's cape. It's too spidery-looking, and at first, before the book even came out, I thought Way of Kings would be too weird. The spirally shardblade kind of threw me off too.
Link Von Kelsier Harvey he/him Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I always thought it was the scene where Dalinar salutes Kaladin. I mean, the guy in the distance is holding a SPEAR, and while Kaladin doesn't actually have a spear at that point in the book, nobody else important uses one, and we've already established that the picture is not perfectly accurate.

This has always been my thinking as well.
Tortellini Posted November 15, 2011 Posted November 15, 2011 I see it as an image inspired by the novel, not actually a scene from it. It captures a lot of the feel of the Shattered Plains, that's why I like it.
Captain.Kaulu Posted January 17, 2012 Posted January 17, 2012 I actually liked the "spidery" look of his cloak -- which I see more as "crabby," crustacean rather than arachnoid. I'm pretty sure Whelan did that on purpose to match one of Roshar's major motifs. I see it as an image inspired by the novel, not actually a scene from it. It captures a lot of the feel of the Shattered Plains, that's why I like it. This.
the95th Posted February 1, 2012 Posted February 1, 2012 on the English cover it is clearly Dalinar, On the American Cover id say it is also Dalinar, but i didnt even think he had a cape on his shardplate.
