When determining the terms of the contest of champions, Odium says Hoid (Cephandrius) could’ve been a god but chose otherwise. Did 16 mortals kill Adolnasium to become the vessels of the shards we know today? Not specifically humans, but mortals, as Cultivation is a dragon. Then again, if dragons are mortal, why is Frost considered functionally immortal? Is it because he’s just really old?

Although in RoW you saw the vessel of Odium change to someone new that is not from the original 16 and Honor died in the past. There are few other shards that are not in the hands of the original vessel (I wont go into details to avoid cosmere spoilers).

Some wanted power, some believed it was a necessary action. Tbf we don't know much about it yet. Frost, as a dragon, is immortal, but recently gained some sort of second source of immortality. If you’ve read most of them I’d suggest you spend some time reading the Coppermind to get up to speed on some of the basic aspects of the Cosmere.
