What is going on with his Honorblade? In RoW it is described as being designed not to kill thunderclasts, but people.

Gavilar doesn't recognize the blade despite playing with them constantly in the visions. I don't recall Dalinar recognizing it when Szeth attacks him on the Plains either

The Honourblades were created at the very beginning of the Desolations; thunderclasts were created during subsequent Desolations as part of the arms race between the Shards. Thunderclasts didn’t exist when it was designed, only singers.

Gavilar was presumably really stressed out when attacked by a shardbearing surgebinder all of a sudden, as was Dalinar. And Szeth moves really quickly. It wouldn't really be unreasonable that they failed to recognize it due to the heat of the moment.

I think it means what it says. Either our timeline is off and the heralds were made before the war, or the Odium/Honor swap happened after the Heralds. Either way, when it was made, Jezrien wasn’t using it to kill Thunderclasts.
