It keeps them connected so that you can access them from each other. Without it, that witch never would've been able to trap us in here without a full-on banishment spell." Vance started gauging the amount of energy put into it: less than he'd expected, but more than he'd hoped. "It also acts as a weak point: hit it hard enough and this whole place should shatter. 'Course it's not as easy as just throwing a fireball at it and calling it a day. It's a direct energy-to-energy attack that's required, which is... difficult, but not impossible. Just unintuitive." He looked at Antin. "You're absorbing a bit of it, right?"
