*Whispers* You learned there was a red flame lantern hanging in the tree. Sorry, just reminding you in case you forgot.

Vance raised an eyebrow. "Did we?"

“Of course! I just don’t know what that is. I’m sure you got something out of it, though.”

The witch ditched her lantern as she fled the scene. You guys don't have to grab it or anything but you would probably notice it.

Vance twiddled his fingers together. "Not really."

“Oh. Well, it’s okay. We didn’t die.”

But we could've.

"I mean..." Vance crossed his arms. "If you're okay, then I'm okay."

She grinned and lay back.

oh yeah

I named it after Dimitri Alexandre Blaiddyd's voice actor

Hackney was a cute little town, though none of the locals liked hearing people call it that. With barely even a few hundred people between the bulb fields and central village, it would take a miracle just to pass through without everyone recognizing you as an outsider and staring the whole way through. The local tavern knew who to call out to advertising a stay, and merchants always seemed to shout louder whenever outsiders drew near.

Luckily for them, they knew what they were here for. Vance spent a good half an hour haggling over the week's pricing for a wagon and pack driver, coming out just about as cleanly as he could've hoped. In the meanwhile he'd sent Kealie to go fetch some supplies - plenty of vegetables, mostly, for Quest's strange diet.

The market enchanted her. She was still riding on Eej, but she enjoyed seeing all the things, though she still hadn’t seen anything she was supposed to buy.

Literally everyone gave her weird looks.

She finally found the veggie stand. “How much for… um… this and this and this and this?”

The man at the stall glanced at his logbooks. Looked like he was new on the job. "For all that it'll be seven crys."

Uhhh… probably shoulda gotten smart with the local currency system.

She dig through the pouch Vance had given her and pulled out some things that looked like crystal.

"...Those ones. The... little black ones. Yes."

She hesitated, then took the money back. “I remembered I have something else to do first.”

So she went to find Vance.

The man sighed.

So she found Vance. “Hey, Vance, which ones are the crys?”

Vance turned around and raised an eyebrow at her. "What?"

“The… crys. Which moneys are which, and what are these little black ones?”

"All of those are crys. The black ones are worth one, the brownish-orangy ones are five, and those white ones are ten."

Vance had a few slightly more valuable crys on him, but he didn't really trust Kealie with those.

“Oh.” She reddened. “I was worried that he was cheating me.”
